Our venture into Waymeet has finally ended. It has been nice to have been in the Shire. It is a much needed haven from the rest of this world. The company all gathered in the center of the small town. A few of our company went off to scout other roads, while most of us filed into formation to begin our journey back to Bree.
Apparently our formation was not up to par for Sergeant Kildwin. In the middle of the road we were made a spectacle. He had us dismount our steeds and get on the ground for endless pushups....again. I feel such shame every time something like this happens.
Eventually we made it back to Bree, though with some hurt pride it seems.
Upon arrival, we were met by the Lady Catrena, another of our company. We celebrated our successful market, but were given dire news as well. Apparently, several boxes of our goods were stolen by goblins in the Lone Lands.
At this news, the captains and officers decided that we needed to take action, and make it swift. They asked for volunteers to help retrieve the goods from a goblin camp. Both Amathlan and I were given spots in the vanguard, to make a direct assault on the camp.
Our rest in Bree was short lived, as we immediately mounted our horses and rode far into the Lone Lands, where we met up at the Forsaken Inn, to plan our attack. In the vanguard, Amathlan and I were joined by the Lady Gisuna, Sir Amaken, Sergeant Kildwin and a small halfling whom I had not met, named Bellemy.
I am shocked that she would wish to join our company, and to fight as well! But I did not say anything out of turn. She seems sweet, and has proven her abilities anyways.
Sir Altheric led us to the goblin camp fearlessly. We approached from the eastern entrance. As soon as we entered the dreaded place, it was all madness from there. My mind shut down any and all thoughts ,except for that of my bow in my hands and my arrows flying with the wind. All I could do was follow Sir Altheric as we shot down every goblin in the place, while gathering our stolen goods.
The whole battle was honestly a blur. In the fray, I lost sight of Amathlan. All I remember is Sir Altheric being shot down by several arrows in his leg. More goblins kept coming and we had to retreat, though we had retrieved our goods thankfully.
Some of the others hurriedly got Sir Altheric back to the inn, so that his wounds may be treated. I stayed behind, for Amathlan was still in the camp. Lady Gisuna emerged, in her other form. But she was injured as well, an arrow buried in her shoulder.
Luckily, it was not a deep wound and I was able to treat it quickly outside of the goblin camp.
When Amathlan and the others finally emerged, I was so relieved. I knew they could all take care of themselves but....
We were preparing to head back when a man, one we assumed to be of the Eglain approached Sir Furley and Lady Daphne. The man did not seem dangerous, but Daphne held a rock in her hand, and Furley had assumed a defensive stance in front of her.
I should have know from that moment, that everything was about to go downhill....
