Oaths Sworn at Eorl's Hallow

A poem recited by Wrecca son of Wíglac soon after swearing his loyalty to the Oathsworn.

OATHS SWORN AT EORL'S HALLOW

Be it Easterling warrior or Wight undead,
be it Dunlendish foe or foul-hearted orc,
none shall break the bonds of brotherhood
that our brothers and sisters of blood and steel
forge together where our fallen king
died defending his folk and his hall.
Your foes are my foes; your friends are my own,
and till my body is broken your battles I shall fight
now that we are trothed by the sword. True to my brothers,
in fierce battle I shall fight to the end
until my kin release me or I live no more.
So swear we all before Eorl, our king.
