The tasteful tavern

Another path traveled and done, and one more around to come… the never ending circles of labor we have to endure… Pah! You muddling your mind again Duncadda… keep your focus… you are getting close to the gate and the guards which you depend on, to gain entrance on Edoras and sell your wares.

some time later at the dawn of the day

The smell of the stew assaulted my nostrils right away entering the tavern, and my initial urges for a mug of mead had to get in line… or had it… With the purse filled with coins after a long day of trading, I decided to indulge myself and rightly so.. it have been ages since last time. To the tavern maid wide eyes, I ordered several bowls of stew, bread, smoked pork and apples… many apples I seem to recall… and a large mug of mead. I set myself to the task of defeat my famishment, with an eagerness that even surprised myself.

Enjoying the tasteful stew and other treats I had ordered, I let my eyes wandering, observing the locals within the tavern, searching for some who could share news from the mark. While the evening started slow, it quickly quickened its pace and out of the blue... the place had a windy rowdy bunch of riders, out shouting and out drinking each other with a strange boastful man from the north. I recognized some of the rider a few days ago at the camp on the road, but they in their drunkenness and interest in the man from the north, did not return the favor. I learned one thing though, they were the Oathsworn, a band of fighters protecting the borders somewhere… it seemed we had a small thing in common then.

There where other guest there as well and I decided to turn my attentions towards them instead, since they seemed to be more of my kind... silent and observing the events around them... instead of forcing them self on the surroundings, unlike some others, they had learned to be a part of it. Be a part of your surroundings are the natures nobility and… Pah! stop clouding your mind with endless scrutiny…

I became familiar with two folks that night… Brynleigh a resident of Edoras and working with horses.. was it horse trainer? The details was lost… anyway the girl seemed to be a polite and caring and had a good observing eye, seeing me get off guard when the place Wold was mentioned.. that was a rare mistake from my side, but she did not exploit it and earned my respect for that. The other was a tall broad man, obvious a friend of Brynleigh, bearing the all the tell tale signs of an experienced warrior… Eoheort of Aldburgh seems to be a true warrior with his calm appearance, but most likely very deadly in action. He honored me with respect for my trade and the feeling was instant mutual.

There were other as well in the tavern, but my attention was towards Brynleigh and Eoheort that evening, and sometimes the boastful load Oathsworns… it was impossible to ignore them.. chuckle to himself… The evening turned late and we had to depart from each other, but I do hope my path will cross again with those tasteful tabel companions that evening.

Tasteful food and tasteful companions, a tasteful tavern indeed!
