News
I received a letter recently from Calagand, and while I was very glad to finally have received word of where he went, the brief news I then learned in the letter nearly tore me in half. The previous knowledge I had received from Draugmir of the Barrow-downs battle was the twisted truth apparently. Edhelfaron was actually dead, his body taken by that crimson horror, with Alestair betraying us, taking the stone for himself!
Edhelfaron Celebsarn, a great elven warrior, someone I could never have truly helped in battle, someone who had perhaps saved my life — something I could never have paid back in the same way. Now he was dead... he was my friend.

... A couple days after the letter, I surprisingly found Galgardor in the Pony. I tried to get more information from him concerning the state of things, as Calagand had told me very little other than that he was safe enough, and I was not to go looking for him or to go anywhere near Nen Harn at the moment — but to only stay where I was in Bree. However, it turns out Galgardor actually had decided to head to Rivendell where he spent many days recuperating and healing from his grievous wounds from the Cargul (Luthbereth much the same). And so, only now he returned. And all he learned since his time away is that the remaining warriors of Draugmir were about to begin their last battle against the traitor Alestair, with Galgardor thinking both sides may be without victory in the end. As for Calagand, Galgardor assumed he was among the last warriors, perhaps doomed to die.
The elf seemed like it was no big deal, like there was little now he could do about it, despite the skills he possessed. He was either to go back up to Nen Harn to see what remains, or to stay in the pony or elsewhere, drinking and doing nothing as it seemed.
This angered me, for if I had had his skills and abilities, I would have been elsewhere, fighting alongside my captain, wherever the fight was to be had, even if the odds were against us. But Galgardor merely told me to forget the past— to move on and stay in Bree as a simple watchman.
But no, I was not, not forever.
