OOC details:

The tournament will officially begin at 7pm GMT, though feel free to come along to the Thirsty Boar anytime before hand and talk with others who will be involved if they are about. Please send Gaeded a tell in game or message here if you want to compete, so that she has an idea of numbers before the event.

Rules of the Competition:

Trial of Arms

Only melee weapons are allowed - swords, axes, daggers, spears, halberds, clubs, maces, hammers and shields. Blunt metal training weapons will be provided ICly.

There are three tiers. Novice, Intermediate and Experienced. Novice is for people who are somewhat decent with melee fighting whilst Experienced is for people who are very skilled with melee combat and Intermediate is for those who are not the best but not the worst. All tiers will roll their specified number twice, the first to see who is trying to hit (the person who rolls the lowest will be the one who tries to hit) and the second to see if the hit lands (if the attacker rolls lower they will hit and if the defender rolls lower they will successfully defend). This will continue until one person has hit the other three times and that person is the winner of the round.

Novices will roll 10. Intermediate will roll 8. Experienced will roll 6.

After the fight the winner will be given their prize (10 crafted dyes of the winners choice and a Striped Pelennor Pig)

Trial of Bows

Only bows allowed - longbows, shortbows, recurve bows. No crossbows, slings, throwing weapons.

As with the Trial of Arms, there are three tiers - Novice, Intermediate and Experienced.

Novices will roll 18. Intermediate will roll 14. Experienced will roll 12.The target has 10 rings, which correlate to a certain amount of points:

Roll 1 = Bullseye - 10 Points

Roll 2 = 2nd ring - 9 points

Roll 3 = 3rd ring - 8 points

Roll 4 = 4th ring - 7 points

Roll 5 = 5th ring - 6 points

Roll 6 = 6th ring - 5 points

Roll 7 = 7th ring - 4 points

Roll 8 = 8th ring - 3 points

Roll 9 = 9th ring - 2 points

Roll 10 = 10th ring - 1 point

Roll 11 - 18 = Miss - 0 points

Archers will have shoot 5 times, at the same time when Gaeded calls.

Once the archers have shot all their arrows, they will turn their backs to the target and Gaeded will count up the scores and then the winner will be announced and given their prize (Quiver of the Waking Wood and a Tan Sheep)

Trial of Fists

No weapons allowed at all.

As with the other trials, there are the novice, intermediate and experienced tiers. The tiers will roll their specified number two the first to see who is trying to hit (the person who rolls the lowest will be the one who tries to hit) and the second to see if the hit lands (if the attacker rolls lower they will hit and if the defender rolls lower they will successfully defend). This will continue until one person has hit the other three times, then both will roll the specified number to see if the person who has hit the other 3 times can knock over their opponent and then both will roll again to see whether the attacker can keep their opponent down for 10 counts.

Novices will roll 10. Intermediate will roll 8. Experienced will roll 6.

After the fight, the winner will be announced and get their prize (10 crafted dyes of the winners choice and a Umber Goat)

Trial of Twain

Only melee weapons are allowed - swords, axes, daggers, spears, halberds, clubs, maces, hammers and shields. Blunt metal training weapons will be provided ICly.

Pairs must be decided beforehand ICly and sign up together.

As with the other trials, there are the novice, intermediate and experienced tiers.

The tiers will roll their specified number twice, the first to see who is trying to hit (the person who rolls the lowest will be the one who tries to hit) and the second to see if the hit lands (if the attacker rolls lower they will hit and if the defender rolls lower they will successfully defend). This will continue until one team has hit the other team six times, though it doesn't have to be 3 hits on each person, it can be 2 hits on one person, 4 on the other and such. Make sure to state the name of the person you want to attack if you roll to be the attacker.

Novices will roll 10. Intermediate will roll 8. Experienced will roll 6.

After the fight, the winner will be announced and get their prize (10 crafted dyes of the winners choice each and a Happy Pig each)

Trial of the Mounted

Only melee weapons are allowed - swords, axes, daggers, spears, halberds, clubs, maces, hammers and shields. Blunt metal training weapons will be provided ICly.

This will continue until one person has hit the other three times, then both will roll the specified number to see if the person who has hit the other 3 times can knock their opponent off the horse.

No hitting the horses.

Novices will roll 10. Intermediate will roll 8. Experienced will roll 6.

After the fight, the winner will be announced and get their prize (10 crafted dyes of the winners choice and a Light Brown Goat)

General Rules:

  1. Winners of each round will be distinguished by rolling, which will be explained before the fight OOCly.
  2. You MUST only ICly use melee weapons for melee fights - if anyone tries to use ranged weapons such as bows, throwing knives, etc, then they will instantly be disqualified. With the Trial of Bows, any type of bow is allowed (except crossbows), but other ranged weapons  are not.
  3. Please bring characters who fit in at such an event and in Bree-land - men and dwarves, however if you have an elf or hobbit would have good reason to be there and fight, then it would be allowed.
  4. Wait for Gaeded's OOC que to roll, so that she can keep track of the rolls so that she doesn't make a mistake when saying who won the round, etc.
  5. Do not make an OOC fuss if you lose as Gaeded has made the rolling system being used as fair as possible so that every competitor has a chance to win. Blame the god of rolls instead ;P
  6. Please do not cause too much drama during the tournament ICly or OOCly as it can be offputting to other players.
  7. Do not multibox and RP multiple characters at once to try and increase your chances of winning - it's not fair to the other competitors.
  8. No godemoting! Gaeded is sure people won't, but she's saying it just in case.

Also, not a rule, but fancy emotes during the fights are much appreciated!
