FAQ

Is this a kin event?

Not at all! Although the events are hosted primarily by members of the Oathsworn (OS), they are open to anyone interested. If you have a character or a kinship that you’d like to get involved, come along! If you see us RPing in the open and are curious, jump in! If you’d like to host an event as part of the series, let us know! Feel free to connect your stories, spin-offs, kinship plots or more. We’re hosting events, not GMing a plot, and we want to see your RP.

How do I get involved?

Any number of ways! You can always message any of us on LA, but in-game tells or mail is usually more efficient. You can also /joinchannel rohan in-game to connect with other rohan-based RPers, and we’re mostly all lurking in there.

Our event-leaders are: Haeneth and Dytha, Thorvall, Aethelwyne and Aedwith, and Cenaith.

The game has progressed into the 4th Age. Why not the RP?

Many of us have been playing this game for years—so long that our characters have grown, had children, lost loved ones, and more. There are some of us who aren’t comfortable pretending the whole of their stories happened over a period of one or two years to coincide with LotRO’s Book Quests. Also, many players have *just* joined the game and are nowhere near venturing past the Black Gate and into the 4th Age. The Third Age Timeline is more suitable to their progression of the game story, as well as being the context in which most of our past RP has happened.

So what year is it set in?

Not any specific one. We’d prefer to keep it vague to allow everyone some flexibility as not everyone’s character will match up with another’s or with the game-play. To give you a window, however, consider that although Théoden didn’t fall ill until 3014, and Sauron didn’t ensnare Saruman until 3000, it is as of at least 2953 that Saruman’s “designs towards Rohan…were evil.” Our RP is set sometime within those 65 years before the events of the War of the Ring (as close to the actual War of the Ring is your choice). This gives us enough wiggle-room to accommodate lore, characters’ backgrounds, and RP that has the potential to carry on years from now.

What if my character exists in [year] or [age]?

Come along and make it your own. We won’t say you can’t play just because you play your character in 3018 or after the Ring was destroyed. Just please be respectful that we’re trying to keep it vague when it comes to official recorded events and timelines. Maybe don’t comment on canon characters being alive or dead, or on how your character was at canon event. When in doubt, keep it vague.

What if I’m not levelled enough for Rohan?

We want to work with you. The first few events will be in safe areas in Rohan like mob-less towns. If you have Mithril Coins (MC) to spare and can get to us, you can attend these and any RP that doesn’t take place in the landscape if you’re too low for the zone. As combat escalates, however, we’ll venture into more dangerous areas. There will still be RP in towns and safe zones, but much of the plot will be in the wild. We understand that MC are expensive, and if we could move everyone right out of Archet, etc. to Rohan, we would, but the goal for the events is Rohirric RP in Rohan. If you’d like to try Rohirric RP in lower-levelled zones, consider stopping by the OS’ Bree-based sister-kin: the Meadhall of Middleham.

We’ll post event locations as they’re scheduled and the minimum level to participate, as well as the minimum level to be summoned there.
