[Non IC canon] [M&K - I] Gossip at the inn (Mad Bagger Inn, Archet)

OOC note: This is an old chronicle about these characters, a non canon history. Currently these characters have another background, but we keep this chronicle published because we wrote it with love laugh

------

The atmosphere is a little cold in the inn, because at that time of the morning few are the parishioners who frequented it. However, the fire in the chimney remains lit as Maggie always tries to. She is busy behind the bar in her duties, while Lorrey keeps her company by eating fruit and drinking an infusion. Next to one of the tables, Tim rests on the wall as he pours his second pitcher of beer early in the morning. And sitting in front of the fireplace warming up are Kennet and a strange woman, whom none of those present knows. That woman with brown hair and scar on her face wears clothes prepared for the field and battle, carrying a shield with an emblem drawn on it, and an axe hanging from her belt. Kennet, the son of Glenn the Archivist of Archet, has approached to engage in conversation with her. The words of their conversation are practically the only ones that sound in the place, but with the crackling of the fire and the noise made by Maggie, Lorrey doesn't listen to what they say (although he tries).

After a while, the stranger and Kennet stand up and continue the conversation, and finally they both head towards the door leading to the square, leaving the inn. The place is left with an uncomfortable silence, which Lorrey does not take long to break:

-It seems that young Kennet has found company for this cold day -the man laughs mockingly before again biting the piece of fruit in his hand. It's good that Bree's women come to give a little life to this lost village...

-That woman is not Bree's. She doesn't have the accent there -says Maggie. And I doubt that the boy took her to bed: she's a woman of arms, I'm telling you.

Lorrey makes a gesture of ignorance with his face, and then answers: Well, and besides Kennet is not very sociable. He likes a couple of documents more than a good pair of tits! -he laughs and makes Maggie smile. The innkeeper answers with complicity: Yes, I'm sure he'll court the woman by taking her to see her father's papers, ha, ha, ha... And Lorrey jokes: Or the bandit taken last night!

Well, you're right -says Tim in a hoarse voice, cutting off the laughter of the other two. Maggie and Lorrey look at him curiously, waiting for him to continue talking. In front of both eyes, Tim continues: This woman is looking for her father, who apparently was here a year ago. The father was looking for a book, I thought I heard it, and he talk to Kennet. You know, the guy likes to talk to any stranger who stops by.

Pfff... well, if he was looking for books, he hadn't come to the right place -replied Lorrey, to which Maggie silently nodded. I think the guy has told her other places where she could find good libraries, so that the woman can keep looking for her father. And... -Tim makes a doubting gesture with his face- ...if I have not listened badly, Kennet has offered to accompany her to look for those places.

The comment leaves all present silent and thoughtful. Finally, Maggie points out: One day the boy will leave Archet. The two men look at her, waiting for her to justify her answer. The boy likes to read and learn, and here the most he is going to read are the Constable Thistlewool bands.

His words give way to silence again. And while Lorrey reflects, trying to understand why someone would leave Archet for the unknown, Tim's gaze betrays a gleam of melancholy and nostalgia.
