Evermind

Gamferth smiled and sighed, looking around. "The mounds of the past kings. So many already."

Gazing around the simbelmynë-covered tombs as they moved away from the gates of Edoras, Brynleighs' eyes grew slowly misty, and as they neared the end of the row, she pulled Jack to a stop. "May I have a moment, Gamferth?" she whispered.

Her companion's smile faltered, and he looked concerned. "Of course, my dear. What is in your mind?"

She slipped from the saddle, landing with a light, graceful thump. "I just...it has been so long..." she murmured vaguely, wandering into the grass a little way.

Dismounting as well, Gamferth followed her.

Brynleigh crouched down as she drew close to the first of the snow-white blossoms. Her hand reached out to brush her fingers delicately over the petals.
