Don't Let Go
She was standing a little ways from the edge, watching the flowing water glisten in the moonlight. How long had it been since she'd been here? Not since she was but a lass. "Ash." The voice was smooth, strong and yet gentle, loving. She knew that voice. She turned to see Deor standing directly behind her, his eyes warm and twinkling as they always did when they looked down to her. She needed no time to think, and collided into him instantly, burying her face in his shoulder and weeping. He held her, stroking her hair despite the awkward angle it kept his arm. "Ash. My love. You must move on. Do not let me go. But move on." She shook her head. "How can I?" He let his cheek rest on the back of her head. "You already love again. You can love both my memory, and the man you love now." It was so good to feel his arms around her again, to hear his voice say her name. "I love you, Ash. You must move on." A tear fell on her head as his voice faded away. "No...wait!" She spoke as she opened her eyes to see light streaming through her infirmary's windows. She covered her face with her hands, wondering what to do with his words.
