As the War of the Ring drew near in the Third Age, there came Claywick Cob, brother of Calder Cob. The Calder boys were sons of Cecil Cob, of Dale, but had different mothers. Claywick, the elder, was mothered by a Beorning maid. Little is known of her, except that her passing from the Cob family precipitated Cecil's departure from Dale, with his toddler son, to Archet. There, the father married again and was given a second son, Calder. Cecil did not speak of Claywicks mother, and both knew the second wife as mother.....
