A note in a journal

Anarya, 26th day of Lasse-lanta

As always, I am surprised whenever I visit Imladris! I have come to this great seat of wisdom for more years than I recall, and still the library awaits with fresh texts and treatises to feed my curious mind.

I have spent the last few months making copies of several fine volumes to accompany me on my return to Mithlond. I obtain a certain satisfaction when fresh knowledge is placed upon the shelves of the great library there.

Year after year, those who arrive in Lindon on their journey to Valinor bring their wisdom and experience with them. Much of their lore is transcribed and placed in our safekeeping, in the hope that those of us who tarry here a while longer might make use of it, and have our own knowledge enriched. It is a fine legacy that they bestow - their wisdom is a generous gift! However, not all bring their wisdom west of Imladris: Lord Elrond's library holds many jewels not yet seen by those who dwell under fair Lindon's eaves...hence my frequent visits here.

I have almost completed a compilation of medicinal treatments and herbal preparations once commonly used in Eregion (and I confess, it has kindled an urge within me to journey there before long). I trust this volume will be a useful reference to many who dwell in Lindon - but I am most keen to show it to Galvathalion, for it was with him in mind that I conceived the volume.

Ah! From my window I can see the sun dip low, and its light appears to set the falling leaves ablaze in a bright dance of red and yellow embers!

This is perhaps the most beautiful quarter of the year...
