Nindrahil had asked me to travel north, to Evendim. I know Nindrahil wishes she could go herself, but as the leader of the Custodians and with the current changes within the group she had to remain in our great hall.
Nindrahil asked me to seek out Calenglad, he is the leader of the Tinnudir Rangers who, according to Nindrahil , are facing increasing perils in the area. Nindrahil thought perhaps someone of my particular skills and interests could aid the rangers there. I am not opposed to this, as I have been wandering the Lone Lands for months and Evendim will be a welcome change in scenery. I have never been to see he majestic lake Evendim, an area which holds such a place in history.
My travel up was uneventful, I travelled mostly in the shadows and seldom took any rest. I sought out Calenglad as I arrived in Tinnudir, which is little more than a ruin camp settlement. Calenglad was happy to see me and spoke highly of Nindrahil and the work of the Custodians in the past. However, the dúnedain are not easily won over, especially here in Evendim where they are plagued with imposters and tomb-robbers, so he asked that I help them out with tasks in order to gain the trust of the other rangers. He spoke of the tomb-robbers seemingly tirelessly ruining the area, but also of darker forces coming down from Angmar. This unfortunately did not surprise me, times are growing darker everywhere. This is indeed why I support the notion that we, the Custodians or Arnor, should take a more active role in protecting the old kingdom. What good is it to protect the history if nobody is left to read it? We must fight back against the dark forces, at least those of us who can. I can, and I will whether Nindrahil thinks me right to do so.
I spoke to Astiul, another of the rangers and he asked me to put my keen elf eyes to good use by trawling the western shore of the lake for jetsam, which might contain valuables. I spent two days walking up and down the beach checking through everything I could find. I found bits and pieces, mostly pottery, which I took back to Astiul, who was very pleased with my findings. Together we sorted the pieces and managed to piece together almost a full jug made out of clay. It had beautiful markings on it, I will copy them on paper to bring back to Nindrahil.
