Daelith's Fate (V) : Into Eregion

The fire of the camp in Echad Dunann dances gracefuly bellow the night’s sky. I would not admit it but I am tired and I find no rest. I do not know where Veryacano vanished but I use the time to write and to silence the whirlpool of thoughts, fears and hopes in my mind.
Things went a lot different then I planned. I noticed Veryacano the moment our groups met. He was wearing – probably first time since I know him- other than the hauberk of his Order or plate and mail armor as long as a Lothlorien robe–today was a dark color and well crafted sturdy armor but whose metal parts seemed masterfully fixed so they don’t make much sound, following the line of the body, with a dark hooded cloak fulfilling the so unusual for him look. He could as well write upon it that he is up to something – or at least this seemed to me who knew his intentions to a degree. I was unsure what to do as my plan was to vanish alone, I tried to remain near him during the expedition and he seemed to think the same – he even asked me as scout for the Hammer when the groups split. No one noticed when he found a moment to tell me he comes with me.
Our search was not in vain and to our joy we found lord Galendil even not in the best condition. He was indeed prisoner as we feared of late and we came not a moment too soon as he was taken south, towards Isengard some believe. They must had put great price on their prisoner as we needed to fight countless guards to get to him and make our way out of their encampment. Still they did not dare to follow to the stronghold of Mirobel, well guarded of our own and with a position that makes it close to impossible to take. I saw Veryacano talking to Earinlin when we were about half way to Mirobel and then the sign to me to follow him. I heard Earinlin calling back some of the warriors of the Hammer when they tried to follow Veryacano as we were rushing east. I wonder how much –if anything – he told Earinlin but for sure his authority made a lot simpler his departure as well as mine – who would dare to demand answers from him!
We ran for hours to reach the camp by nightfall. We had no horses – and little use they would have been only to leave them at Echad Dunann. My modified quiver is heavier then I am used to carry but I managed to keep the speed. I am sure those huge shields are heavier- actually I know they are, I remember my surprise when Cirdamir said the shield I got him was light when I could not imagine myself moving it fast enough to be of any use in a fight. Such march was not the best moment to make plans. I shall find out his thoughts when he returns.
I now packed carefully my hauberk and put on the hooded cloak I had with me instead. Its soft warmth is pleasant against the cool night. I should try to sleep, as I believe this is our last night in a guarded camp of our kin, with a built shelter above our head and no goblins as neighbors for quite a while.
