Third Letter to Brynleigh

Dearest Brynleigh,

As I mentioned in my last letter, you are ever-present on my mind.

I write this from beside the river Anduin, at the edge of Lothlorien. I am at present three days from home, and will be riding south along the Great River before turning westward to cross the Entwash.

I had hoped that mentioning the name of Faenial, the healer who saved me from the arrow wound, might gain me some goodwill, as I had hoped to encounter her again during my passage. I was surprised, for they simply laughed at the mere mention of her. They covered me with a hood and escorted me through, telling me that Faenial was not in the wood any longer.

I caught a few brief glances of the wood, as they removed the hood to allow me to drink, eat, and urinate. I remember how the sunlight filters down through the trees, giving it a beautiful white-golden color. All I could think of was your hair, cascading down over your shoulders…in a way I’ve never seen.

But I digress. I hope all is well with you, and Aeroden has been able to properly defend you in my place. I worry about you constantly, afraid that someone may add to the pain you already bear. Too much pain can kill one’s soul, and yours is quite beautiful, and special to me. I cannot bear the thought of something happening to you.

I will write you next from home.

With love,

Firithain
