Of Honey, Cheese and Wholesome Spelt

Barkrist is known to make delicious food. Whenever he leaves for the woods to cut lumber, he takes with him folded slices of spelt bread, covered in butter, goat cheese and honey with slices of mushroom along with a good deal of roasted nuts in salt and a flask of spring water. A simple meal, but wholesome enough for this big northerner to find the strength necessary to cut down fresh logs of wood.

On the markets of Dale, he trades the famous honey-cakes of the Beornings, and cream and butter and a wide variety of bread.

Barkrist loves the taste of good food, and he takes great pleasure in a picnic in an open glade of the woods or at the forest edge. There too he plucks the sweet red fruit the forest has to offer and he gathers herbs and mushrooms and edible flowers wherever he may find them. His diet may seem peculiar to the Dale-men, but it is all too normal to him.
