Opening an arena, early problems

The crew had a couple of ideas to get coin, but what they promptly jumped at was starting an arena of sorts - a brawling ring, run by them, with betting to make money. The captain formed a similar project in Bree some years back, but was too focused on the pleasure aspect to turn it into a profitable business at the time.

They decided to use the same spot as last time: a round stone plateau in some ruins, near the stone quarter, adjacent to a slum. So after making their way through the dwarven streets and being bothered by a neverending crowd of beggars, they reached the spot.

However, they weren't let in. Four thugs blocked their way, and three more crept up behind them. The present crew was just three people - Ergaric, Ardt and Aiona - so they had to give up their newly purchased soaps, having come straight from the boar fountain market. But they didn't do so without shouting out a  promise to come back as they scurried away.

And they did. Two days later they returned with another crew member, Aelirann, and two more Men, Elirior and Rahvic. The idea was to give them a beating with clubs and cause some long-term damage to be able to defend the place for some time afterward. In the end, two ended up rolling down a long stone staircase and Aelirann decided to work their boss' legs with her knife. But as planned, none of them died, which ought to suffice to keep the Bree watch at bay, considering it's the worst part of the town anyway.

To make sure the locals know that the future arena has changed ownership, the crew now loiters there for some hours every day, usually on their way to the Pony or on the way back from it. Some of the locals who have been harassed by those hoodlums before actually showed their gratitude. To get the brawling ring running it would take some more work and a little financial investment, but the location is theirs for now.
