Walking up along the road he felt his grin fade away, recently it felt heavier to carry. Every time his back turned to those he spoke to there was a small relief when his smile, his casual grin, his laugh and the mirth he had assumed like a coat of paint could be removed.
Is it the right thing to do?
The walk wasn't long and once he had found the spot he had placed as his destination the man cleared a spot on the ground and sat down, shrugging aside his coat to keep underneath him.
The more they hate, the easier it gets. Is it worth it? Maybe. Possibly for the better in the end. Too late anyway.
Is it?
Yes. Damage is done. Isn't that how it goes? I think it is. At least I can drop the act, rest a little.
After a good stretch he shifted onto his stomach, hands moving underneath him to push his torso upwards and bring it back down after. For awhile he focused on his breath while continuing to raise and lower his torso from the cold ground. The warmth the motion and strain caused welcomed against the bitter cold air.
How many was that? Did I reach fifty yet? Maybe? Well, not going to start over again.
He scoffed to himself and paused for a small rest and a quick breath. Not wanting to lose momentum for too long he picked up on the work again, slipping the left arm behind his back while his torso continued to lower and rise by the use of the other arm.
....Eight ....Nine ....Ten.
He switched arms and began counting again, focusing his mind as not to lose track for when it was time to change arms again
A while passed and it wasn't until he felt a unpleasant sting that he stopped again for a rest and a breath. His hands sat against the ground and he stared between them, panting and allow himself a moment of rest.
Just another smile. Just another mask. Yes, it's better this way. She can hate me, it's simpler that way. No more complications. Just another mask. Just another smile.
Kicking out from the ground, he raised himself up till his feet face high toward the sky. Now standing on his hands, carefully maintaining his balance and once steady, he lowered his weight down and then up again on the strength of his arms and abdomen.
Ugh... I've been too lazy. Too lazy.... Alright... Just a couple of more... Then a few after that. It's about time we start getting our act together.
