Chronicled in the Scholar's Stair Archives in Bree of Eriador,
On this the 64th day of Rhîw in the Year 3018 of the Third Age.
Long indeed has this enquië felt for me, and yet only is it Ormenel!
This morning I withdrew from the hospitality of the Hobbits of Staddle to the confines of the Scholar's Stair Archives, and have here compiled a history of The Battle of the Thousand Caves, of which I have sent a copy by messenger to Todsi for his edification. I am told by the scholar Newbold Leafcutter here in the Archives that he is staying at the home of his cousin in the 'Stone Quarter', but I know not my way around this warren of a town well enough to seek it myself. (Perhaps I should have explored it further when I visited before?) It is well that he found an alternative to the local inn.

Now much have I conversed with Newbold Leafcutter and Dalton Willow, the resident loremaster, concerning my tidings from Mithlond. For much time have I had while walking the quiet woods and fallow farmlands of Staddle, and meditating upon the banks of Little Staddlemere, to bend my thought to it.
Thus shall I submit to the request of Annúngilthor and henceforth spread the concept of Istari Nalmë with those scholars and historians whom I encounter upon my journey, and today have I written thereof and sent my reply on swift raven's wings to Mithlond.
