Danel,
It was with great sorrow that I learned of your departure Westward. Sorrow, but not surprise. Ever since that night years ago in Mirkwood, I have been expecting this day. You told Belegos that you would not sail, that you would linger on beyond your time here. I think he believed you, perhaps you even convinced yourself? I am not gifted in the ways of seeing the truth of the hearts of others, but I could see that your heart was not in your proclamation.
You must understand that I do not mean that as a slight, for there are few who would choose a hopeless future for themselves, unless they have lost all hope. You are not such a person.
I will not ride hard after you, to wrench you away from the shores of the Sea; that is not my place and neither do I have the will or strength to attempt such a thing anymore. I do not even seek to give you counsel, for you know your mind better than I. But you must know that such a sundering would be unto the breaking of the world, and it saddens me that you did not seek me out, or even sent word.
I thought that there was a kinship between us, a friendship even. I am a slow learner though, for ever have I relied on friendship yet I always find myself alone in the end.
You need not respond if you so choose, I will assume that this letter never reached you before you departed from these shores, or that you have nothing left to say to me.
Your friend,
Estarfin
