[The red book] Entry 22

 Bree-Town, Year 3018 of the T.A.

If I close my eyes and concentrate I can almost feel it. The salty air and the brisk wind running through my hair. I can hear seagulls and the busling harbor. I can see the face of my love as the sun softly caress his rugged skin and I feel the soft touch of his lips against mine. I can see the green meadows of Lebennin, the great river and the little streams. I can see my father, not weak in his bed as before he died, but strong and able as he used to be. It is what I see when I close my eyes and it is all precious to me.

But as I open them again a different scenery is presented before me. A view I never will get used to and one I will never love. Yet I remain and live on the hope that I shall soon return home and then not alone. He will be by my side again. We will share hope and despair as we once did and we will share each others dreams and plan for the future.

I await your return, dearest brother, and every day I ask for the road to keep you safe.
