I have been very busy recently. Not only have I bought a residence in Thorin's Hall to store and study the treasures I find, no, I have also made an interesting discovery in the snipets of ancients texts I found in Othrikar.
The lead I found talked about a small dwarvish mine in Rhudaur. The journey there through the Shire and the Breeland was uneventful, but it took considerable effort to find the place I was looking for as it had long been abandoned.
When I had finally cleared the entrance of rubble and carefully explored the upper halls that had once been the living quarters it became clear, that the old inhabitants had not left in a hurry and had taken almost everything with them when they moved on after the mine had been exhausted.
I was already on the brink of giving up and chalking the expedition off as a failure when I stumbled upon the remains of some stone boards that had been engraved with thin runes - a fragment of an old book, that had accidentally been damaged and left behind as whoever was packing up the archive didn't realize what treasure he had vandalized:
The two slabs spoke of the fabled Fahani Rurkêl, the Book of Secrets - a tome containing information about the locations of a number of ancient dwarvish halls, including holy places, burial chambers, archives and hoards of treasure.
As the ages passed and our numbers dwindled the Fahani Rurkêl was apparently deemed to be too dangerous to be kept intact. If the fragments I found speak the truth the tome was broken up and at least seven parts were taken to major settlements to be hidden as well as possible. One such place is in the Malasul'abbad, and that is where my next expedition will take me.
