Katrandil had tidings with The Red Company during that period, and in the end so did Ornessar when they and Kat came to his doorstep and asked for the help of the Elves to rebuild their residence - which was assaulted a few days prior. Ornessar led a small group of Elves of his House and they repaired all they could in Redstable.
After the Redstable was rebuilt, Ornessar, the other Elves and some members of the Red Company travelled to Rivendell and stayed there for one day. They had a meeting in the Hall of Fire, where they talked about the relics that were stolen from them - one of those being some kind of heirloom of Rossiel which, if used by the wrong hands, could lead into chaos. Katrandil, being the only pure-blood Dunadan of the company was the person who was most in danger by the use of that heirloom, so Ornessar volunteered to tie his right arm to Kat's left arm so she doesn't end up doing something unwillingly. Radhril tied their hands with a mithril chain of hers, and everyone but Ornessar went to rest.
The next day they started moving again. They split up and some of them went to Eregion through the secret passage in Tal Bruinen, while the rest went through the Giant Valley. That lessened the odds that they'd all be caught into a trap and their quest would end there. They all met up in Gwingris and they started moving towards Echad Eregion, where they were ambushed by some lowly Angmarim who apparently were servants of the person who led the assault of the Redstable. There the chain broke, being an alloy of silver and mithril rather than pure mithril.
Anyway in Echad Eregion they learned that the people they were after were now on the peak of Celebdil. Not long after they started moving, they were ambushed by a traitor to the Red Company - a dwarf clad in gold-plated armour, even wielding weapons made of gold themselves. He had a small army behind him, but he was still outnumbered, but he had two kinswomen of the Red Company held as captives. Aedree, the one leading the expedition, did not hesitate and launched three arrows and killed both her kinswomen and dented the armour of the dwarf. Ornessar then led an assault towards the dwarf's army. They killed all of his armies, and he beheaded the dwarf, who in turn was tied to Ornessar's horse and was dragged around for a while.
In the end they too made their way up to the peak of Celebdil. There they fought against the Angmarim leader's minions and - when it was all done - Ornessar beheaded the Angmarim leader's head and reclaimed the stolen heirlooms for the Red Company. After that they all returned to their own lands and went back to their normal lives.
But it was not so for Ornessar and Katrandil. The two friends would only split up for a month, and would then reunite in Trestlebridge in the North Downs, right after Ornessar delivered a pin of the House of Ornessë that he smithed himself with the mithril-silver alloy of the chain that broke during the expedition, to Radhril.
But what happened to the two friends after that? Time would show...
