| Outward Appearance | Hona is average in height with a slight build. Her arms and legs hold wiry muscle and several scars serve as testament to her adventures in the wilderness. Her skin is tanned from many years in the sun. She is in her mid-20s and the age has begun to show in her face - despite this, many people would notice her dark, clever eyes that often hold curiousity or interest. Her lips are often chapped and her skin dry. Her hair is cut off at shoulder length, with several pieces that fall about her face.
In dress, she may often be found in traveling clothes. A leather jerkin or cotton jacket are among her favorite clothes. She prefers bright cloaks, for in her opinion a traveler on the road has no need to hide in the darkness. Her leather boots are worn but serviceable. She often carries a sword close to her hip, and a dagger in her boot. She has several shortbows and longbows which she uses on various occasions. Though her clothes and belongings have a well-worn appearance, they show the care of one who knows how to manage a life on the road. |

Background
Honory Ashby, called Hona by most, grew up on a farm on the outskirts of Trestlebridge. Her father was a woodworker who shared some of his craft with his youngest daughter, while her mother was a gentlewoman who devoted much effort to raising Honory as a lady. As a child, Hona enjoyed going into town and hearing stories from passing travelers of the amazing places across Middle Earth, especially of those places where Men dared to dwell on mountain cliffs and wild plains. Determined to develop the skills needed to leave her homeland and venture forth, Hona trained with the bow and blade and hoped to become a guard for the traveling caravans that often stopped at her family's farm. As a young adult, her wishes came to fruition, but not in the way she expected. The impending threat from the north prompted her to enlist as a guard in Trestlebridge. Traveling into the north country on patrols, she saw much of the countryside and got to experience a life on the road. She also became interested in learning more about the history of Man because of the ruins and abandoned towns she witnessed on her patrols.
In an unexpected Orc rampage from the north, her family's farmstead was destroyed, leaving their house and barn burnt to ashes, their livestock dead, and their fields trampled. Her parents, growing old, moved into the town proper, where Hona goes to visit them often. Instead of staying in Trestlebridge herself, Hona traveled to Bree-town to stay with a cousin and seek out new work. In encountering a notice for the Black Steel company, she pledged her assistance to their leader Fiontann and offers her aid to them in times of need. When she is not traveling with the company, she often goes abroad to the east, exploring the lands of the Eglain beyond Bree's borders. One day she hopes to travel to Rohan and Gondor and see the great kingdoms of Man, but she does not know when that day will be. Hona enjoys music - her lute, which has leaves and vines carved into its face, is one of her most frequent companions at home. Unlike some girls from a rural background, she learned to read at a young age. Her room includes an expansive collection of fiction and historical books, as well as songbooks. She is enthusiastic when speaking about the minstrels of old, and holds their work in high esteem. Hona often conceals her true personality beneath a tough exterior. She is not shy when speaking her mind and her straightforward manner often helps her communicate either on the road or in fighting situations. Deep down, she has a heart of gold and a near-crippling weakness for those in need of her aid.
Hona always seeks new friends and companions, whether traveling to distant places or sharing company by the fire. She may be reached by letter to her cousin's house, or encountered in Bree-town or on the road.
