A source of great amusement to keep me entertained during my convalescence.
Dagramir had a healer in his pocket. Who knew? A decent one as well, it seems. She didn't just throw some herbs at me and tell me to take it easy like so many would. She actually gave me a full examination, which was a little bit weird, but rather insightful.
The swelling in my face is just that. It should go down soon enough. She tells me that my eyes are a particularly fetching shade of red right now but refused to let me have a mirror. I should have liked to see myself with swert-hound eyes! Maybe I'll ask Sil' when he comes back. The good news is that I can open them again now. The bad news is that it's not very much or for very long so I'm still half-blinded for the most part. The rest of me is black and blue and I have some rather well-formed boot marks along my thigh! She strapped up my chest, informing me that several of my ribs are fractured and that I must be careful not to exert myself too much lest I make them worse.
The best news thus far has been about my legs. She had a damned good poke and prod at my spine, hips and pelvis and could find nothing broken or dislocated. She did, however, find a lot of deep discolouration. Her best guess is that my inability to move those limbs is just temporary and that both feeling and strength should return in due time as long as I try to prevent the muscle from atrophy.
She's a very dry woman. She speaks as if the world bores her silly. A shame that one so young and pretty should be so jaded. I've taken it upon myself to try to make her laugh. I even sang for her, something that irritated her no end. I know I shouldn't, but I just found that highly entertaining! I'll do it again when I see her next!
Yes, yes, I know I'm a terrible person. I'm always the first to admit to that. But what else can I do? I can't go out. I can't stalk the tavern in search of information or distraction. I am stuck in this bed inside this little room with naught to occupy me and naught to look forward to but the promised daily visits from Gilsel, the grumpy healer, and whatever time Sil' can spare to poke his head in and make sure that I'm still where I'm supposed to be.
I'm going insane from the boredom already! I hate being idle!
I had thought to go over some of my notes, to at least occupy my mind with digs past and possible future paths to tread, but Steel has yet to find me. His saddlebags hold all of those documents...
Bag! Bollocks!
I have to go back for it!
Those bastard half-brothers of mine had better have left it where it lay or I'll see their worthless hides tanned into a new tent by the time I'm done with them!
