Dear Lady Elvealin,
The work with you my lady, within the Order of the Harp, has given me much comfort and been immensely gratifying, and I have come to consider you a dear friend. It has also given my life a renewed sense of direction in my work to preserve our cultural heritage of music and prose. Ever since my mother sailed west, leaving me with a rich heritage of music from old, I have strived to honor her legacy, and it is with you have found the joy to do so.
Since I moved to Imladris and took the oath to Bar-en-Vanimar, I have talked about the need to travel back to my parent’s old house in Lindon and collect more of my things and notes I so hastily left behind. There is also a need to check on the condition of the house, for I fear I may have been rather negligent there as well. My leaving Lindon in haste as I did left many things in a less than desired state.
I have put off the journey for quite some time now, initially waiting for the spring and improved road conditions, but in truth, there are many things and wonders, as well as much work in the valley that distracts.
What finally set my plans into motion, hastily packing my things and preparing to set out immediately, is the visit of an old friend from Lindon, Maedhrathin, who had stopped here in the valley on his way west. He has urged me to come with him and will accompany me on the journey, making it bright, quick and less lonely. He is a dear old friend and a boon on journeys such as this one.
During the journey, I will travel alongside the common roads, and not stop often, only to briefly rest. Though most of our kindred would prefer to travel beneath the light of the stars, I have no such preferences and will travel as much and quickly as possible, day as well as night. I was not born beneath a starry sky, but graced by the rays of a newly lit sun as I opened my eyes.
Please do not worry about me traveling without an escort. Being trained as warden of old, I am used to take care of myself, and I fear I most likely will also have to look after Maedhrathin on the road. Although the roads nowadays are little travelled, I won’t risk unnecessary exposure, and will avoid most settlements along the way, not that there are many places on the road to linger at.
While in Lindon, I will also take the opportunity to visit Mithlond and the library there, to research some of the notes I had brought with me, and to visit old friends and the sea-side. Oh the sea… if you only knew how much the cry of the seagulls always fills my heart with warmth and longing. If you have any correspondence for me to convey, please do not hesitate to send them with me. It will be a pleasure to see to their safe delivery.
I will set out late at night on the next coming eve when we usually gather in the Hall of Fire. Arrangements has been made with Ladrochan at the stables to have the horses ready for me and my companion. I know is seems on a rather short notice, and perhaps rash, but If I don’t do this now, I fear that the journey will only be postponed further.
I hope to return before much of the summer has passed, and to continue our work here. Until then law firo i laiss e-guil dhîn.

Supplementary (short) letter to the Lady of the Harp.
Dear Lady Elvealin,
I am overjoyed, the traveling company grows. It seems me and Maedhrathin will not travel alone to Lindon. Earcalie of the Hammer approached me the other day and asked if she could accompany us, as she had planned to visit a relative there. She often comes to the Hall of Fire when we gather, and there she must have caught wind of my plans. I am thrilled to have her with us, the journey will now be so much brighter and quicker.
Until we meet again. Galo Anor erin râd dhîn.
