269 days untill Durin's day.
Not a day goes by with out missing you m'dear Brulda.
A good and warm rest. Something an old man searches for every night. This night I found one. A great deal of comfort has come over me whilst staying beneath the mountain. I slept like an infant, waking early and full of life.
I made my way to the welcome hall to speak with some of the soldiers I spotted, young Dwarves some not over the age of thirty. Their equipment forged with in these halls. Brand new, shining like the sun over the mountains, their Helmets sturdy and full of ancient runes, their axes sharp and their look fierce. These were Dwarven warriors. A new kind, A new generation. The first army bred in the Blue Mountains since the second age. I felt honored whilst looking at these warriors.
After inspecting the new Blue Mountain Regiment I went to look the detachment of Iron Guard, wishing to speak to my old friend. Drulli together with Dwalin and me being the older Dwarves with in the Blue Mountains I sought for some company. I can honestly say that I have never missed being in service then when I spotted him. His gear nothing like the new warriors, more grand more important and after almost two centuries still shining. Metal from Erebor. I tear fell of my cheeks. My heart fighting the urge not to fall into tears. Seeing my old friend as proud as can be, brought something up in me. I invited him for A good ale, and some roasted pork. After a strong head butt we retreated to the local inn. Whilst sharing drink and tale, I avoided looking in to his eyes. Although A happy encounter, our laughter was low and our smiles forced.
It didn't take long before we raised our Pints in the air. Two hundred and thirty five. today. Although two decades older then my old friend, our old eyes looked lively for a moment in the same way. Silently we sat a the bar and drank our ale. But in silence half an hour became an hour. Then the Horn sounded. It was time for my old friend to return to duty. But before he left I failed in my own set task not to look in his eyes.
Whilst returning to my companion she was still well asleep, I sat next to hear, trying to comfort my self. The eyes of my Borther-in-law always reminding me of my dear wife. And I believe Drulli has the very same experience when gazing upon me. Another year with out you my dear Brulda.
The snores of my companion brought me at ease again. A rather cute sight to see her sleep so well after our long travels. I could resist but lay my hand upon her face and feel the warmth of her face. Her illness fading away in the warmth of the Halls. Its time for me to go and find the chemist of Thorin's Halls and do what I promised to my companion. Off we go!
