It appeared to be another night at the Prancing Pony, when a man clothed in red, and a dwarf in blue entered the common room. The two had just returned from a journey rather unimportant. The man in red was known as Aallan Scarlet, who was rather an odd character, for he was honest for being a thief. The dwarf who was with him, was Dufr Stonebeard, as he was known to his kin for having a beard so strong, it stopped a blade from claiming his life.
Dufr said to Aallan he would be going to sleep soon, as the two entered the hallways, turning to the back rooms of the Pony. Of course Dufr first had to take a smoke, in front of a fireplace, so he walked right into the closest room to either of them. However, it happened to be in the middle of a conversation between two individuals. Though both were human, while the one of the two was a perfectly attractive woman, the other was a man who seemed rather muscular and strong. Thankfully, neither of them seemed to mind Dufr's intrusion into the room, though Aallan had stepped in to watch for a while, before joining Dufr at the fire place.
The conversations went well, though Dufr and the strong man talked much about heroes and legends. Near the end of this time, Both Dufr and Aallan had introduced themselves to the room's inhabitants. The man did not trust Aallan, after he admitted he was a thief; for who could even think to do so for someone practically confessing guilt?
Soon, Dufr and Aallan stepped outside of the room into the hallway, as Aallan had an idea. Earlier that day, he heard of a Giant who was said to live in an area north of Buckland. "What if there really was a giant in Bree-land, who owned something incredibly valuable?" Aallan presubably pondered. The earlier conversation about legends must have had a hand in bringing up this topic. Dufr, however, did not agree to the idea of theft, regardless of what case it was. A few minutes passed with Aallan remaining unconvinced of Dufr's doubts. However, the dwarf had to leave once again to return to Thorin's Hall, which was west of even the Shire. Thus, Aallan and Dufr rode out to Tuckborough. Dufr continued west from there, at morning's notice, while Aallan returned to Bree. In any case, the two had agreed on something: They would seek out this giant and his 'treasure' soon enough.
