A New Title Means New Troubles

She never understood why her father did not talk about his work, outside of his glories in battle, but it was beginning to come to her. Keeping track of an entire town's stock, both for the Eored and for the Fyrds was beginning to wear Ceolswith down. First it was the matter of the stolen horseshoes.

It took some time, but she and Aodhred found out that there were men stealing the shoes. For what, she did not know. The small band was quiet recently since they last ambushed the two of them. She still needed to talk to Aodhred about it, but another matter was coming up.

Mining; those pesky mines were causing more headaches than drinking too much mead ever could. At first, there were not enough men. Then they started sending riders to help augment the mines. When their recent shipment from Harwick lacked of sorely needed grain, she knew something more needed to change. And, she would have to bring the issue up.

Speaking of little stocks of grain, Ceolswith had to add the need for farmers. The lands around Stangard had little production of crops. She found that they depended on trade too much to feed everyone bread. She would have to ask of the hunters to bring back more from the lands, to include foraging more.

For now, it was planning on how to increase production on the iron. She would have to look towards the Westfold on how to do that.
