Some believe that the kin of men is limited in their abilities. On some matters they are correct.
Men shall never be as agile as the elves or as strong as dwarves. They won't have the light feet of a hobbit but still they have courage and will beyond all other races. And where there is will there is a way.
Archers of the race of men are known to be capable of exceptional deed. Through sheer willpower they were able to extend their skills to nearly rival that of elves. Especially the Dunedain, those of pure blood in particular, were increasable archers. Both Anorian and Gondorians were known to have great skill in archery due to their discipline in the art.
After the pure blood started to fade in Gondor so did their skill in archery, though the Ranger of Ithilien were still known as fierce and deadly foes to their enemies. Capable of taking out entire legions with just a hand full of man. Purely through archery....
In the northern kingdom of Anor the dunedain bloodline was threatened by the Angmar and his army. Eventually after the fall of the kingdom, the remnants of the Dunedain set off into the wilderness and became the Rangers of the North. They were skilled in many forms of combat but archery was their main form. Though stealth and deadly presission they slaughtered many tribes of orc deep within the wilderness of Arthedain, Cardolan and Rhudaur.
Some of them exceeded even their own kin in the skill of archery. Men that put archery before any other form of combat. These were known to take down entire tribes by themselves. How? one might ask.... They shot down a few orcs from one position before moving towards the next, always sticking to the shadows it seemed like the orcs were attack by many foes and yet there was only one. Their panic was the rangers opportunity.
Some rangers were known the harbor an old skill. They held the arrows in the draw hand instead of drawing them out of the quiver. By doing this they were able to shoot way faster while maintaining their accuracy on short and mid-ranged distance. They were also able to shoot up to 10 arrows or more in rapid succession.
The greatest amongst them. Those who were devoted to the art of archery were even capable of catching enemy arrows and shooting them back, or simply shooting an arrow out of the air with an arrow of their own.
Now this might sound like magic but it is fact that they were capable of this skill. Through extensive training one may reach skills that seem unrealistic to others.
Devotion is the key that unlocks many doors.
