News from Cardolan

Having gathered fresh provisions from Bree, Filrean set her horse to the Great Eastern road and headed towards Asdo's campsite, she would leave him there and head out to the barrows on foot. On her journey from Esteldin she had since been to the camps of Amarion, Mincham and Andreg. She had also asked Saeradan to send word ahead to Candaith. Now she sought out Halbar in his watch of Cardolan and knowing he would most likely be in the area now know as the great barrows she headed there. It was dusk as she set out, wanting to move in darkness so as not to be seen too easily, making sure her horse was watered and fed she took up her pack and set up the steep slope towards the barrows. She stepped as quietly as the ground would allow, loose stones crunching slightly underfoot and the dust being sent up in small plumes of cloud. These lands held little in vegetation and she knew it would be hard to follow any tracks in this ground if the winds have been blowing strong. She would mostly have to follow her instincts, her knowledge of Halbar, where a Ranger would most likely set up camp and the lay of the land. Not that she had traversed this area much in her time, mostly just to acknowledge it's existence and the time she had looked for some trinkets someone was seeking amidst the tombs. She followed some of the paths made that avoided the larger of the barrows, ones known to be still haunted and kept her sword ready against the beasts that hunted her. The sun would soon rise and she needed to find him before he moved on. Crouching low she ran her hand over the ground, some imprints of a boot, larger than the average Bree-folk, it was what she was looking for. Noting the direction of the print she set of at a faster pace, she understood now where he might be. Ahead a mound and atop of that a large stone marker that would offer some shade against the wind, it's steep sides enough that many would dismiss it and keep walking by. She stopped and sniffed at the air, her mouth open slightly, the tell tale signs of woodsmoke. She walked up the mound and was greeted on sight by Halbar, he had as expected already noted her approach. They sat by the small fire as she handed over her gift of fresh provisions, to which he spent little time in eating, she did not wait to tell him of why she was there nor the task given her by Amlarad. Halbar did not know of much news to speak of, at least not of much significance. He told her of there being more wights that were not of the Dunedain, new brigands most likely from the south of Tharbad he thought, heading into Andrath. Finally he said there had been an increase of travellers on the Great East road. For a time they spoke of why this might be, people moving perhaps on rumours of something occuring Filrean asked of him, something they themselves did not yet know of, to which he replied.."Mere rumours, we ourselves are often regarded as rumours and misgivings."
