As the day turned to evening Perdolreth was still on her horse heading back to Rivendell and ever so often looking down at her ring. She couldn't stop thinking of her mother, her thoughts trailed off to the day she left her side...
Perdolreth left so quickly she only spoke briefly to her mother that day. She was packing a light bag, her mother thought she had left with food and water in her bag. She could still hear her mothers voice calling her from the hall. Perdolreth her mother said in a nervous voice, "How long are you going to actually be out?" Her daze broke as the her horse stopped in front of the bridge of the last homely house of Lord Elrond. Again her thoughts slipped back to the day she left home... Perdolreth took a few of her clothes items and headed out to what I her mother thought was a search to see if the spiders were any closer to the woodland realms that day. It was many years ago that she said good bye. She never thought of returning home. Her parents most likely had left for the Grey Havens many years ago.
Why now does her thoughts return to her parents? They are gone safe in the Grey Havens by now. They had told her they were to leave the next week. Perdol didn't wish to travel with them. She wanted to see all of Middle Earth and meet the people who lived in it. She knew that there were other elves who felt the same way about these lands.
She climbed down from her horse and patted her nose. As she grabbed her horses reins one of Lord Elronds sons was coming across the bridge. He had a saddened look to his face as he came closer. Perdolreth, I have urgent news but before you hear of it my father wishes for you to meet him on the hill by the waterfall. With a concerned look she handed the reins of her horse to Lord Elronds son and started down the pathway towards the waterfall. One of the only waterfall by Lord Erlonds house was an impressive size and very loud it fell to a stilled pond that emptyed to another smaller waterfall. The sun wasn't out this day and chill in the air made Perdol's now frail body shiver a bit. The mist from the waterfall made Perdols hair fly in her face as she neared the edge of the water where Lord Elrond stood. Perdol's favorite place was by the waterfall. The noise helped clear her thoughts most days. As she neared the water she was watching Lord Elrond his back was to her. He was in a trance like state as she walked up to him. Then he spoke as she stood next to him. Perdolreth I knew of your father he was a very well trained solder. We fought next to each other in the war against Sauron. He fought with such speed. She listened but Lord Elronds words were silenced as her mind went into shock, she couldn't get a word out but just a mumbled, How did they...Lord Elrond stopped her from asking her question. She knew something had happened to her Father...Then he said, "You didn't know about him being in the war did you? She looked to the water and said, no... very softly. She looked at Lord Elrond and asked, This is about my parents isn't it? He looked down...then stared off to the waterfall for a moment then raised his arm and in his hand was her fathers sword... With seeing this sword in Lord Elronds hand she knew...her parents never made it to the Grey Havens. She fell to her knees sobbing and she grabbed the grass and wished she had never left Mirkwood. When...when did they... Lord Elrond stopped her as he knelt down with her. We found his sword over a week ago... Where? Perdolreth said in a shaky voice. It was out just of Mirkwood Eve's. Where there any tracks of who or what killed them? We found warg and Uruk-hai tracks. They trailed off to the woods. She placed her hand on her fathers sword and began to cry a deep sobbing cry. She knew why Lord Elrond brought her here to the water side. Sad cries of an elf carry. He wanted her to have time to herself. Perdolreth's sadness would be watched carefully for a broken heart could mean death. She was not to be far off with out a watchful eye near her. Her being jailed had something to do with what happened to her parents. Lord Elrond fears they were to also to kill her along with her parents. Under whom did the orders come from and why? She was not of royal blood. She was not the only elf to be imprisoned and her parents were not the only two killed that day. Many elves fell that day and many vanished. Only one source was responsible for the killings and ordered it to be carried out swiftly without the thought of life. The White hand was the responsible ones, his visions had seen it. He was now sending out his people to leave for the Grey Havens and with armed guards at their sides.
Perdolreth was a skilled tracker and had perfected knowing how to find anyone even after the tracks had but almost faded away. She wanted to leave to see where her parents were killed but Lord Elrond told her she would have to stay till she was well enough...the jailing and now this. It took its toll on her now frail body. She had lost much weight and was much weaker than before she had been caught and jailed by the goblins of Goblin Town. Time is now a waiting game. Her anger would only grow as she waited to be strong enough to take her revenge. Soon, very soon she hoped to be back at hunting for the evil in these lands.
