Background

Recruitment

Any man or hobbit citizen of Bree-Land with no major criminal history may feel free to apply for a job in the Town Hall, elections for positions on the council are hosted yearly at the end of the current council's term, and once more any upstanding and reputable citizen may run or vote for positions.

Prerequisites to apply: 

-Is a registered Bree citizen 

-Has no criminal history (very minor offenses not included)

-Has ability to read and write, this should go without saying

-Recommended to have had some history in their chosen position (administrators of defense having served Bree as watchers or constables, or treasurers having worked in the Bree Vault for instance)

-Recommended to have the funds and connections needed to properly sponsor ones candidacy, how to campaign for election is to be left to the candidate's discretion.

Positions

The Council is the main ruling body of Bree aside from the Mayor himself, and thus does not run itself the Council also needs multiple secretaries, archivists, security, and other staff to keep the place running.

Officer positions:

Speaker of the Council- De facto leader of the Council, second only to the mayor in terms of Bree policy

Administrator of defense: Oversees defense and law enforcement both in and outside the walls of Bree. Works closely with the watch and constables towards this endeavor.

Treasurer: Manages the finances of Bree and oversees the Vault, also handles matters involving taxation.

Diplomat: Sees to Bree's relations with outside villages and other prominent organizations of Eriador.

Steward: Oversees land and territory claims, and resolves disputes thereof 

Chief Archivist: Cares for and maintains the records and archives of Bree.

Up to five at large Councilors and alternates

Non council positions: ((These are not elected positions, and anyone who meets the above prerequisites can apply))

Secretaries: Assist the Council in day to day affairs in the Town Hall, in whatever capacity 

Archivists/Record Keepers: Tend to the Town Halls archives and records.

Security: When the Watch is unavailable to provide security at  council meetings, security is needed to deal with the rowdy and disruptive, prior combat experience is a bonus, but not necessary.

Council Meetings 

Council Meetings are held weekly on Thursdays ((Starting at 4pm server time)), meetings are public and all Bree citizens are allowed to attend so long as they behave themselves, food and refreshments will be provided. Causing trouble in meetings will result in being escorted out by security, repeated offenses will eventually be grounds for being permanently banned from attending meetings.
