To Fingolrin, in the Drownholt

Beloved,

This must be a short letter, I fear, for were I to expound in full upon how much I miss you and love you, poor Lintroval would never be able to get off the ground!  (And besides, Manadhlaer wanted to include a letter for Norli as well.)  We were very mature and reasonable, weren't we, with our mutual acknowledgment of the fact that our duty would often keep us apart?  I wonder if you find the reality as onerous as I do!

It was just as well that I stayed, for there have been developments with Thendryt that made it good I did so.  Fear not-none of your Hammer brothers were involved and in fact, Lord Dolthafaer was actually very helpful.  Thendryt is his own worst enemy, as well as having a positive genius for making enemies for himself.  But things seem to be settling now, so when my birds tell me you are on the way back (for I am having them watch, and you don't want to know the sort of mocking that makes the Eagles give me!), I will hopefully be able to ride out to meet you.

I hope that you are well, and that in protecting everyone else you have not forgotten to have a care for yourself.  Much as I trust the healers in your party, I would rather they did not have to practice their craft upon you!  I will be very irritated if I find you were hurt.

And see how you have civilized me?  I used to think nothing of bedding down with a bear or a wolf-pack if weather or enemies made it a good idea.  Now I find the idea decidedly lacking and would much prefer to be with you.  I do miss you terribly all the time, but most of all at night.

Say hello to everyone and give Norli and Eli my love!  I am hoping that your quest is swift and successful and that I see you soon!

Your loving,

Lilleduil
