PART  2: Dwarves, Angmarim and alliances

Ynel, the dwarf, and Hes never left Kauppa-kohta together. So it happened, that the north opened up it’s icey mouth and blowed a storm of hale which captured the earth for nearly a week. When the sky finally began to clear, the travelers could not find eachother. This forced Ynel to look for new company, and a new guide to aid her.

In the shade of the forest near Kauppa-kohta she found a hunter, Faerollas. He was a ranger of the north, stationed in Evendim before he had been sent to Forochel for some new and nameless threat to investigate. Neither, Ynel, nor Faerollas, knew the road that laid ahead. They took support on eachother as they left Kauppa-kohta and took the road northward, aiming to reach Zigilgund – the only destination Ynel knew to wait ahead.

Slowly but steadily the road took them north, where the skies blazed green and blue with ever-dancing lights. The land itself was till and soundles, with white layer of snow to every direction, and barely a road to follow. Ynel found herself often staring up to the sky, at the burning light above, and slowly she came to a conclusion.

She believed, that she knew what they were.

This, however, she hid into her heart, never sharing it with her companion. They reached the ocean, and followed it’s shores to very direction. Doing so they spotted the Angmarim camped by the sea. They were digging holes to the ice. Fishing. Drying fish, making nets. Slaves were at work and their masters keeping guard with whips and swords. This was why Faerollas was here for; to spy the angmarim activities in the north.

However, the two travelers didn’t linger for long at the seaside, but looked for shelter. Through many turns and through many events they found the dwarf-keep, Zigilgund, and there they met again with Hosgrim Smartbeard, who had found his way there at his own leisure.

The dwarves of Zigilgund were suffering a grief misfortune. Due to some event (which they clearly wanted to keep as their own business) they had lost precious tools. Without their tools their work at the stead was slow and difficult. This is where Ynel found her opportunity to get two flies with the same swat! By her suggestion, the dwarves and the men (Ynel and Faerollas) raided the angmarim camps by the sea, destroying their work and stealing as many tools as they could carry away safely. Much blood was spilled on the ice by dwarven axes, and many tents were looted by swift burglar hands that night.

At the end of it, they rested in Suri-kylä, a settlement of lossoth by the sea. That was, where they awoke and met the following morning.

Ynel tursn to look at Fae when he aproaches and smiles widely "Hello ranger! Meet my new friend, Norsu."

Faerollas looks up , he eyes the woman after. 'Is it the Mammoth , or the Lossoth?

You say, 'The mammoth, ofcourse.'

Faerollas says, 'Quite , huge..'

You say, 'Yes and quite alarming, but the lossoth caled him Norsu, and said that he is dozile. I find him quite charming.'

Faerollas says, 'Will he join us in , your quest?'

you say, 'I doubt it. It is the only mammoth in this camp and I am sure they need him here. But if I could...oh yes, I woudl buy hima nd take him with us. I woudl not know, however, how to feed him.'

You say, 'Are there any mammoth-like creatures in Gondor?'

Faerollas says, 'I don't think so , though there are the Mumak , from Harad , allies of Sauron.'

you say, 'Oh I see. Their owners are their masters, and allied with the dark lord...'

Ynel suddenly blinks as if somethign struck her head

You say, 'But now I remember! There IS a mammoth outside all camps. Remember, close to our little foot-hold by the sea?'

Faerollas says, 'You mean ... No..'

you say, 'You don't remember?'

Faerollas says, 'I do , but it's dangerous.. Are you really sure?'

You say, 'No, I think you are right. It may be too dangerous. And after all, I don't know if I would be able to keep a mammoth anyhow. Only if it is stolen from someone, I coudl steal it back and save it.'

Faerollas says, 'We'll see , maybe we can do something about it'

Ynel nods "We'll look to it when te time comes. What is your plan for today, or tonight as te night has fallen?'

Faerollas says, 'Whatever you'd like , I'm not busy , as I just did my job.'

You say, 'Did you come to any further conclusion about the angmarim, or that note you found?'

Faerollas says, 'I'll have to go to Angmar , to find anything else , after I'm done with Moria perhaps.'

Ynel looks at him blankly for a moment before she repeats after him. "Moria?"

Faerollas says, 'I got a note from Elufer , she asked for some backup in Moria , nothing urgent , but , whenever possible.'

You say, 'Is this Elufer a friend of yours, or a commander?'

Faerollas says, 'I'd say more of a commander , who my company scouts to.'

You say, 'And you intend to go there? I've heard such things about Moria....that it is not a place to go.'

Faerollas says, 'Not so soon , I intend to help you out in this region'

Ynel smiles some "I am not sure...if you can help me Faerollen, with my ultimate purpose here. You have been very helpful so far, and am glad that we met...but I am afraid that I cannot be helped in the end."

Faerollas raises a brow , as he steps some centimeters forth. 'What do you mean , in the end?'

You say, 'I mean...well, I am not even sure what I mean. The thing is that... I am chasign a ghost. A ghost that many have chased before me and not found. I am persistent, however....and I beleive in my chanses. But I can't ignore the fact that..it may well be a fruitless endeavor.'

Faerollas says, 'I will go with you to the end lass , to the very bottom of this all'

You say, 'Even to the bottom of the Bay?'

Faerollas says, 'If I have to..

.'Ynel takes a step closer to him and looks keenly into his eyes. "That is where I am going."

Faerollas says, 'So be it..I will not leave you , in the middle of this place , abandon you , since ventured here together..'

Ynel looks into his eye "But I am being literal. Are you? Will you really go with me to the bottom of the Bay?"

Faerollas smiles at her , from under his mask. 'Would you continue your search?'

Ynel watches him for a logn time quietly, but seems to end her meditation with a convinced nod to her own thoughts, aswell as to the question. "Yes. But if you are going to Moria soon, then perhaps a good place to start that journey woudl be at Zigilgund? It is where we were going prevously, and perhaps the Dwarves there have connections that may help you."
