Path of shadow - War meditation

The trees swayed along the gentle breeze as leaves fell from their towering homes. Falling upon the lush, green grass that seemed to grow abundantly in the small glade where a man knelt and prayed quietly.

"I heard about what happened, and I am here to tell you that you do not have to do this alone." The man stood, his hands behind his back as he watched.

"You know why I do this, you know why it must be done." Pellam replied quickly, his tone was hushed and calmed as he continued to meditate.

"Pellam, I understand that few will know what you do. I realize that even fewer will understand why, you do this. You fight, just like I do. You tread a path that is grey, one that sits upon the edge of a finely honed blade. In hopes, that a child will never have to see what you have. Nor do the things that you do and will have to do. I'm here to tell you, do not do this alone." Urses folded his arms across his wide chest, his eyes looking down to the man whom still knelt in meditation.

Silence filled the small glade once more, as Pellam rose. Runes marking his back along with scars and burns from years past. He turned and looked to Urses, his eyes and face portraying many expressions but only one remained true. The Grey Haired Warrior had seen it many times before, a look of warriors whom were ready to give their last upon the field of battle.

" She thinks what I do is evil, and she will never know the things I do. She sees the One whom wishes he was an elf as a warrior, as one whom can handle himself. The one they call Angelnarth, thinks I am but a boy. Nor does he trust me. I have given him chances to listen and heed my warnings." He scoffed, and shook his head. Turning his face away in anguish and sorrow.

Urses placed a hand upon the young man shoulder spoke. "So you walk away and plan to end the threat to the order yourself? Do you see that as a wise idea? They are many, legions upon legions of those whom wishing nothing more than to destroy even the faintest of light Pellam."

The young man nodded and looked back to Urses. "They have killed one of ours already, you called him father. They kidnapped you, me... They threaten the Order, all that we hold dear."

The two stared at each other for several moments. Urses looked to the mans blades that had been laid out before him, as well as a shield, a bow and a crossbow.

"Lad, I cannot dissuade you. Your heart has been set and your mind is prepared." Urses nodded and held out his hand for Pellam.

"These men have tested the will of the Order for far to long. They wish to slaughter us, and worse. They fear the dawn, the light. I will make them fear the night. I will drive a fear into there hearts that will never cease. He, has trained my fingers for war. He leadeth my hands to fight." Pellam said while taking Urses' hand, shaking it firmly before nodding.

Urses smiled slightly and raised a brow. "I heard one was left behind, in the Princess' journey. A.. Sturgeon?"

Pellam laughed and shook his head. "No, no. A surgeon. She's in Imladris. Her name is Iriys, she's also a barber. She might could make you look human, you know."

A roar of laughter expelled itself from Urses' lungs, his sharpened teeth flashing from his grin while he smacked Pellams arm. 'Lad, be safe. Please. We do not have to walk alone in what ever path that we choose. Not all that walks in shadow is evil, and not all that walks in the light is good. I fear for you my brother, for I know that where you walk few have returned. I see in your hear that you believe you are evil, a creation of a wicked abomination. This is not true and I can tell you this honestly. For what evil can love unconditionally? What evil would oust his light in shadow only to make others burn brighter?"

Pellam remained silent, his gaze falling upon the runed sword that lay in front of him. His mind filling with thoughts, questions. The young warrior looked over his shoulder to Urses. "Thank you for you for your words. Make sure they are alright while I am gone, please. It is a long journey, and home will be far behind."
