Bounty hunting pt 1

The village of Combe was quieter than usually as the cold of the autumn kept most of the people in their houses. Fiontann and Rothrian dismounted their horses and stood on the stairs of the Comb and Wattle Inn and looked at each other.

"He should be here then, it's time to learn more about this." said Fion and raised his head to look at the inn, Rothrian nodded in agreement and both went up the stairs, heading towards the door. The fireplace was lit lighting the main roll greatly, as well as the faces that turned to look at the newcomers. Fiontann looked up in a sarcastical manner, eyeing everyone that looked at them, before walking to the counter and leaning on it. Lizbeth greeted both, asking what could she get them and Rothrian asked for ale, Fion paid and the two had some sips and talked, letting some time pass before asking her about the man that told them to get there.

Soon, Fion grew tired of it and told Lizbeth that a man told them to come, and that he would be upstairs waiting, she maid understood and discreetly gave him a key, which he carefully let slip into the sleeve. That made both, Fion and Roth, look at each other and doubt about the secresy of the whole thing, so Fion emptied the tankard and slammed it against the counter, startling Liz. He made his way up letting the key fall into his hand. Rothrian kept looking at him amused as he unsuccessfully tried to open the wrong door, in the end he walked up to the other and unlocked it, revealing an empty room with a fireplace, a bookcase, two beds and shelves. They looked at each other again, in dismay and started searching everywhere, not sure what for. Soon, Rothrian found some parchments hidden in the fireplace, in the stovepipe. Reading them they saw that they were after a man who had already killed a man in Bree and burned the fields of a Hobbit in Staddle, he must have attacked others too but one could not say for sure. On the papers it was mentioned that the man who hired Fiontann was called Bil, just as Lizbeth had called him. It also said that a man named Carter was the only known person to have survived an attack from the man they were after, and he was in Staddle.

They left the inn irritated by the game, being sent left and right after a man they didn't know, by a man they didn't know but something in that amused them. "Time to run around like the old times..." had said Fion when he jumped on his horse and Rothrian agreed once more. "Let's go to the Pony, I knew this would happen and I ordered Barliman some provisions for two days on the road, it's also time to become a bounty hunter..." and turned the horse around and rode towards Bree.

Within moments he got into the Prancing Pony and changed and took the provisions, he dressed up as he used to, as a bounty hunter, not getting used to the eyepatch he stumbled on the stairs as he was going down but he managed to not fall. Rothrian then got ready as well and the two rode to Trestlebridge. The night was dark and on the road the two met a man on the path, he seemed troubled and soon they discovered that it was Sigfread, the man that FIin remembered only slightly and didn't like him very much, he let them ride with him, not quite happy about it, but luckily Trestlebridge was close to where they found the ranger.

They entered the town by night, making the people look and point at them, thus they got irritated even more, and Fion stopped being discreet, he was a bounty hunter after all... He did not need to respect everyone. Leaving the two buy arrows that Sigfread needed, Fion followed the instructions in the parchments and went to the bridge, seeking the man called Carter, one answered his inquiries saying that that man now lived in the cabin, below the hill and Fion followed the path. He found a man with a long scar along his face, over his right eye and nose, reaching to the left of the chin. His left hand was missing, as well as two or three fingers of the right one. He wasn't eager to talk about the matter, but Fion insisted, he was also getting angry, more angry. The answers angered him more and he took the path to go back.

"Time to leave Rothrian." he said when he reached the two, "We have to go into the Southern fields of Bree-land, he must be hiding there. I am losing my patience." and looked around as iif challenging anyone looking at him. Rothrian sighed and nodded "This goose hunting game is getting worse." she said and turned towards Sigfread to continue her conversation. Fiontann drew a deep breath and let it out as a sigh and ended it up as a quiet grunt and made hsi way out of the town, soon Rothrian followed and rest came.
