Strike against the Enemy (S. Trollshaws) Part II

Strike against the Enemy (Southern Trollshaws) The Warband gathered at the Last Bridge at the decreed time, many had answered the call of arms travelling from the east and western realm. Once all the greetings had been completed Elisbeth got everyones attention and brought their minds onto the task at hand. To drive a critical blow to the camp of the enemy located in the southern part of the Trollshaws. As Elisbeth spoke with the gathered warriors Khalis wandered the ranks examining the armour and weapons and was pleased with results. All the warriors had been maintaining their equipment well which please Khalis greatly. Tagos and Khalis then laid out the plan of attack to move against the enemy from three directions, drawing a map of their planned direction of attack in the dirt where they stood. Once all the warriors understood their role all that remained was to move to the planned field of battle, thuis they mounted their war steeds and moved southward. They moved en-mass to the crevice where Elisbeth and Tzel would upon hearing the sound of the main parties battle horn would mount a diversionary attack. The bulk of the Warband then moved westward to the second crevice where they dismounted and cautiously moved forward towards the enemy encampment. It was quickly seen that the enemy had increased its numbers of trolls since the scouting parties previous mission. At this stage Khalis took a few moments to remind the war party of good battle drills making the most of their archers skill and the warriors in heavy armour. Thus the attack began with the main party moving quickly forward into the outer reaches of the camp where the first sounds of combat began to ripple forth. Tagos immediately took to the high ground to maximise his skills and he watched as the warbands main effort moved onwards cutting down the mighty Trolls as they went. As the main party advanced with Khalis they gained sight of the outer walls of the enemies encampment but then a sound rang out behind and to the right. The sound of battle and many rocks clashing against rock, it came from the pathway Tagos had taken. Quickly Khalis knew they had been misled for there must be even more trolls than their initial assessment. The main party moved off in support of Tagos and they found a large area of rocks where a score of trolls were waiting, of Tagos there was no sign. At this stage Gelfrid took up command of the war party, so Khalis could search for the missing Tagos. Steadily the warriors battled ever onward cutting down troll after troll as they went moving back towards the heart of the enemy. The melees were fierce Gelfrid leading by example and literally throwing himself at every troll. As they battled on Khalis noticed a change amongst the warriors they had begun to work in cohesion as one. Drawing another troll out just as the one engaged was failing. This was what formed the strength of the warband, the ability to fight as one entity. Then there was a lighter moment for as the last of a band of five trolls was cut down there came the sight of a volley of arrows speeding down the valley and where they came from stood Tagos all in white. He was bloodied but he was standing and fighting a true exemplar warrior. The warriors of Khalis' party then re grouped to join Tagos before they swept forward towards the stone archway which led into the center of the enemies encampment. The outer guards were quickly despatched as they moved on through to behind a courtyard upon which stood several large tent areas. The courtyard was awash with men and a few scatttered trolls who drew their weapons and rushed the members of the warband gathered before them. As the final battle ensued over the warbands head came volley after volley of arrows from the archers even more deadly now due to the fact Tzel was with the main body, and also Elisbeths magery was supporting the warriors. Once the sounds of battle had ceased it was time to assess the damage to both the warband and the enemy. Kallad had takena heavy blow to the head but had come back to his senses, otherwise the warband were in remarkably good condition which was more than could be said for the enemy. For all about the courtyard were bodies upon bodies of men and trolls, but then something caught one of the warbands eye, it was a fallen black steed. Then the full truth dawned upon those gathered this was a fallen steed of one of the 9 ring wraiths. No doubt there was more to this encampment than anyone had guessed, it was time to depart and make a report to the Council of Imladris. Quickly the warband headed out through the archway and back along the crevice path Elisbeth,Tzel and their friend Ril had kept clear. Seeking out there steeds they made a quick departure towards the main road and Thorenhad.
