Tales of a Dalish Tailor - Page 29

Dear Diary,

Well, some news has definitely come up. My father is still alive, and he has been sending men after me to take me back to Dale. Thankfully, Papa--er, that is what I refer to Awarth now, as he is much like a second, and an actual, father to me--is there to help me through things. And so far everything is going well.

A couple of groups of the men are not keen on what Odel--my father by blood--is doing, and so they are... switching sides, as it were. But, one of the leaders of one of the groups, Thornton by name, has said my father is likely to come to Bree himself... that is something I am not looking forward to. At all.

But, I will be okay. Thornton has something planned to keep me safe. Part of the plan he has is for me to be disguised. So, I worked out the details of my disguise with Braiden, the leader of the other group of men. I will take on the role of a mute scholar--yes, mute. I have practiced the 'mute' part a lot as a child, and knowing that my father will recognize my voice, I've no real choice but to practice being a mute once more.

So far I think it is working... An addition to my disguise is being a middle-aged Gondorian woman, thankfully. I've a wig on loan from mister Gold, and he did the makeup for it. Yes, makeup. Something I had never touched when I was growing up. So I have firm belief my disguise is working... though it is tiring.

I am tired of disguising myself, it is only making me feel as though I were again living in fear. I cannot allow myself to do that again... I sincerely cannot allow it...
