"Another day ... Oh, I do not wish to rise ... Do, I have to Elliot?"
A soft purr sounded from her lover's pillow, but it was not he. It was a calico kitten, a few weeks old with amber eyes. He blinked at her, before cuddling back into the feathered pillow with a flick of his tiny tail.
"You're right, sleep is better. For a growing child that is."
A rustle of sheets and comforter followed as the young woman slipped out of the warm bed. Faded, amber waves were messy as she brushed some behind her ear. Breakfast, Garden, Wash, Floors ... Windows, Feed Elliot ... And repeat.
Now, the day went on slowly. Breakfast was an apple, the garden was full of obnoxious weeds and rabbits, Alini rolled all over the wash and ate a shirt, the floors took hours to scrub, finally the windows were washed.
"Meow!"
"Oh, I know little man. Food is coming."
"Meoooooooow!"
Gwin seemed to smile, for once in what seemed like days. Oh, many have seen her 'smile' but it wasn't a smile. Fake as could be, were the others. But this ... This was a genuine, loving, kind, warm smile she always seemed to give when with those she loved. Her nails grazed over Elliot's fuzzy head as he lapped at the somewhat soft food.
"You're a good boy! Good kitty, yes you are! Oh, I do hope Havaldr won't mind you ..."
