Report - A Bandit Beheaded

Name: unknown
Affiliation: None discovered by watcher Danwick
Current status: deceased

Crimes: Assault of a Watcher, resisting arrest, attempted murder.

Official Report:

Watcher Danwick and Watcher Penham were placed on watch outside the Prancing Pony inn. From the south wall of the Prancing Pony courtyard an armed man, roughly 6 foot and assumed Breeish was seen lurking in the shadows appearing to be carrying of an unknown object. Watchers Danwick and Penham went to investigate only to find themselves ambushed by arrow fire from an alcove in the buildings near the Scholars' Stair archives. a close quarters battle ensued between the watchers and the unknown assailant, characterized by rather matted and unkempt fur armor and a prodigious odor of rotting meat that could peel the scales off a fish.

Watcher Danwick suffered from an arrow shot to the shoulder that fortunately proved to be non lethal, and from which he is expected to make a full recovery. Despite Watcher Danwick's best efforts to subdue the assailant non lethally for further questioning, the assailant was killed by a pair of armed civilians whom he attempted some form of bizarre unarmed suicide charge against. The armed civilians then proceeded to shoot the attacker in the back with an arrow, followed by beheading him with a sword strike delivered to the neck. It remains unknown if the assailant and the civilians had any sort of personal history. In the aftermath of the battle Watcher Danwick was carried off to receive treatment for his wounds and the assailant's corpse was cleared off the streets. Leaving no signs that a struggle had even happened by sunrise.

Officer: Constable Penham Fletwood

Day: Monday

Case Type: Assault

Victim: Recruit Danwick Hale

Summary:
On my patrol, I encountered Recruit Hale standing on guard on the square in front of the pony, who began pursuing a suspicious man shortly after my arrival. Naturally, I accompanied him and to our surprise, the man took the offensive and ambushed us by shooting an arrow at Recruit Hale from a corner while we were following him down the road. We cornered him there and engaged in a fight, resulting in the eventual death of the attacker.

Actions Taken:
As it was clear the man meant to attack us, we immediately engaged him, with the main priority being the prevention of the man's escape by all means. The man was heavily injured in the fight, but still attempted flight with my sword still stuck in his stomach. He was stopped by two bystanders and finally succumbed to his injuries, falling to the ground lifeless and with an almost severed head. The corpse was brought to the jail with the help of another recruit and one of the aforementioned bystanders. He left his information with Dawn Appledore in hopes of receiving a reward for shooting the arrow that stopped the flight of the criminal, suspecting that the criminal might be one of the group we are looking for. I will leave that decision up to you.

During the course of the fight, Dan was hit by an arrow in the shoulder while I sustained minor injuries by having by having my head hit a pillar with my helmet on after being pushed, the recruit was sent to seek help for his injuries immediately after the fight.

Signed

Constable Penham Fletwood

Notes:

As the assailant is deceased, and no names were given of the civilians who aided in his demise, there is little room for this case to be expanded upon. The body will be delivered delivered to the Larkspur residence either by the end of the week, or after he is identified. Until verification of his identification is noted,  it will be impossible to discern if his attack was of any relevance, or simply an isolated incident, and random act of violence.
