Someone brought up the idea of releasing a badger and a skunk in the Prancing Pony in Bree. Being naturally drawn to trouble, Cerriel decided that she was up to it. She was already on bad terms with Barliman Butterbur, the innkeeper. What would one more trick really do? This one did not include fire.
Having never trapped anything in her life before, she set out with her goat and leather armor. She had no clue if armor was necessary for trapping, but she felt like she needed it. After asking around Bree, the former sailor from Dol Amroth set out to look for what she expected a badger to look like. Someone spoke of masks on four legs. She could work with that.
Some of the townsfolk in Combe thought she was mad. They pointed her in another direction towards Chetwood for finding the animal. With her crossbow loaded, she treaded lightly in search of the beast. Her goat, which she still needed to give a name to, followed slowly.
It took the young woman a few hours of hiking around the forest before finding something close to what others described. She set her snare before finding a place to sit and watch with a bottomless bird cage nearby. It seemed like she found herself in a staring contest with the animal. Neither was willing to move (even if Cerriel lacks patience) away. Then the thing attacked, wanting to chase her away. Fearing what it really was, the Gondorian jumped to her feet, forgetting her own snare and tripped. Now that she was stuck, she reached for her knife to cut the rope when her faithful, nameless goat stepped in.
Cerriel finally was able to get herself out of the snare. She reached for the bird cage before slamming it down around the animal.
"Well, I am glad that I have not taken up trapping. I have the badger... Now I need to find a skunk... whatever that is."
