A letter to Elorfin #2

Father, I hope and trust this letter finds you well and that your stand against the evil that has beset our beloved home is not in vain. I have finally reached the great mountains and joined the Dwarven expedition into Moria. Many of our kin have answered there call to assist them reclaim the mines but alas the cost has been heavy many have perished. Men, Elves Dwarves and even the little folk from the Shirelands have stood side by side in the struggle in this dark place.. perhaps even here when the price is so high hope blossoms as the free folk of this land stand together.

I have found myself shocked and in horror of the evil that has beset Moria, yet the grand halls and sheer scale of the craftsmanship is breathtaking. Whether seen or not Moria stands a testiment to Dwarven inginuity and craftsmanship. Of all the halls and grand corridors in this place, the one they call the first hall though still overrun by our foes, is the grandest of them all.. I can but marvel at the time taken and the magnitude of the work.

I can say with assurance that some of the dreadful rumours are true, though I have naught seen such first hand a creature so foul called here as 'Durin's Bain' indeed did prevail against Durin. A book fo final writings of a last stand against the horde and this creature confirm many's worst fears. Nevertheless the Dwarves are of good courage and stout heart, although I fear for somen as perhaps greed or zeal for revenge has over taken them. It is my hope my stay is not to long here, this is no place for kin such as us, but aid I will til Lorien beckons.

Send my greetings to our family tell them I am well.. Earinlin.
