Journal of Khalis Imieran entry 29

Journal of Khalis Imieran entry 29

I travelled back to Imladris with Hiril Elisbeth after Ruadan brought word to us of her needed return as the company took breath before venturing into the Goblin tunnels. Upon arrival in the vale Hiril Elisbeth immediately sought council and I headd back to our Great Hall to change out of my armour and get my wound redressed. At least here I can recover more speedily.

Within a few days a second party arrived back in the vae but this one bearing grim news for Themodir one of the Hammers of House Vanimar had fallen prey to Goblin meddling. They had managed to capture the Hammer and drag him into their domain which caused the Hammers with some of our company to battle into the caverns to rescue him. Now the Hammer was rushed to Imladris but even with a healer at his side it was not enough for his heart soon gave out.

After some debate the warrior was laid to rest in a stone cairn looking down upon the vale, with Hir Anglachelm leading the burial ceremony. I felt that I should attend out of respect for the Hammers and House Vanimar even though I knew this one very little. But one thing will stay with me. When we came across a man in the cold snow covered mountains his was the only voice I heard which offered to carry him to safety. Perhaps this Themodir had a spirit much like my own and he sees something in menkind most do not. I am sorry I did not know this warrior more..........

I stood to one side and watched as tears flowed and solemn words were spoken, his lady Manadhlaer did bear herself with much grace standing before the cairn as the words of the ceremony were spoken. One by one they left once the ceremony was concluded. Silently I stepped forth between the watching, silent sentinels to offer Themodir one of the silvered clasps of our company in honour to him and his house and a few words in the tongue of my father to hasten his journey westward.
