Nellye's Men Part 3 : Hardoleth

Hardoleth

Hardoleth.Captain of The Bloody Dawn. A man with no scruples and a reputation of being a ladies man.I do not think I lie, when I say that he had probably bedded all of the women in the company.Of course, I was not surprised to hear this since the women of the company was made up of wenches that had no further aspiration in life than of that to be wed to any of the men of importance within. As you can tell, I was not impressed by any of them.

When I was offered to be a part of it, Hardoleth was with one of them, and they were expecting a child.Of course, he already had children, one that I knew of ,a daughter that was part of the Dawn as well. She was her Father's daughter, no doubt, and with the same reputation as his, she fluttered between the men.
This always made me chuckle, great entertainment it was to watch her, and the thought that she would take after her Father in this way was just amusing to me.The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, they say.
Of course, as soon as the child was born he left the childs mother. That didn't surprise me either.

I never had much to do with the Captain, I rarely saw him, and that was just as well.I did not know him, nor did I care to.I did not like the man at all. What I've seen of him did naught to impress on me.Boisterus and loud, not to mention bragadocious.
Always with his hungry eyes at me, sweeping over my form, offering a wink when he thought no one saw.I know what he wanted and know that I would have never given it to him, if he so would have been the last man alive!
I do remember one occasion when he did call me to his side, turning his icy eyes at me and scolded me for taking a contract that went against the interest of the Dawn, and him personally. How did I dare accept a contract without letting the negociations of it go through his trusted leutenants?
Well, I dared, together with Geirdrifa, and the contract was valid work, the woman that paid was harassed by him.Interesting enough he let us keep the contract.I have always wondered why? Maybe he was getting old and tired? He died not long after it.Found dead with his journal and last will beside him. He must have felt his time come to an end.

He was put in his room at the Hall and I remember going there.I stood for a long time by the foot of the bed just looking at him. The Hall was empty and quiet, and just a single candle was left burning by his side.
So much for the great Captain.I remember lifting the covers off of his feet and pinching one of his toes. I just had to make sure he was dead. When doing this I heard a soft cough at the door, and Geirdrifa entered the room. He might have showed the proper respect at this wake, but grieving he was not.
Him, nor me, grieved at the funeral either. It was well attended and the speeches went on for a long time, people praising his deeds and his persona. Bunch of liars all of them.
May you rot among the maggots Peg-leg.
