Life in Lindon - part 1: Friends of old

A mild breeze blew through the streets of Forlond. The dawn had just set in as the sun raised over the distant mountain range of Ered Luin. On a clear day like this you can see the mountain tops peeking out in the horizon. Armanduil got up early, it has been a week since his mother departed to the west. Eril’s departure, the journey from the vale, the pendant and his lost sister were quite a load of thoughts to process. And there were none with whom he wished to share this, he must deal with it alone. Answers come in time, what he needed now most of all is a purpose. Sitting idle was never a trait he excelled in, especially when the darker thoughts occupy his mind.

Armanduil walked down the narrow  street of white cobblestone towards the docks. He went to the warehouse and sought out the shipwright of Forlond. He walked through a white stone archway and into the warehouse, on the ground there were many crates with various goods ready to be shipped. He found the shipwright noting something down in his journal while he counted the crates. Armanduil bowed out of courtesy “Suilad Hír, I seek a mariner and  friend Galahir, would you have any notion when he sails to Forlond?”. The Shipwright looked very busy and it took a while before he looked up. He had a stern expression and rummaged through his journal mumbling “Galahir hrm?” suddenly he stopped as his finger slided down the page “Ah, he is supposed to deliver a shipment in five days from now”. Armanduil brightened up “Wonderful, Le athea!”.

Quite content he left the warehouse and walked upon the dock. It has been three years since he worked with Galahir. They used to sail around the Gulf of  Lhûn together for many a year, shipping goods from port to port. Armanduil hoped his old friend still looks for a pair of hands to help him on his ship. It was as the shipwright said, five days later around noon a ship entered the bay of Forlond. And a young and vivid elf jumped via a rope upon the dock “Look who has returned! If it isn’t my old friend, welcome back!”. Armanduil smiled and bowed gently “It is good to see you again Galahir, I have been waiting for you”. Galahir laughed “You want back on? I can use your aid again, you can start right away! See all those crates on board?” He smirked as he pointed towards his cargo. Together they started unloading the ship, meanwhile they talked without end.
