When the people of Middle-earth saw Vingilótë sail towards them, glittering and bright, they took it like a sign, and called Eärendil and his vessel ' Gil-Estel', the Star of High Hope. The Host of the Valar finally set foot on the land of Beleriand and prepared for war.
After a long sea journey through storms and rough waves, came the calm waters of the bay. Fëa Alquarámë had sustained considerable damage , her sails were ripped in many places - she was in need of extensive repairs but this was not the time for that.
I was ordered to bring the cargo on shore and attend a council of the mariners . Weary as I was after many days at sea, I fulfilled my duty as a captain of a transport ship by delivering the food and spare armors on the docks.
That is where our involvement with the Host and Valinor came to an end. For we, the Teleri Elves, were asked to join the great army marching North to war, but such plea was refused. Only a few of us were willing to go to war with the Noldor.
Many of us had never forgotten how the Noldor had once descended on our homes in the Haven on the Swans in Valinor and slay our people and destroy our ships. My father often would recall this terrible event called the ' Kinslaying', Elves killing Elves. For this reason Teleri decided not to fight alongside the Noldor in what would be known as The War of Wrath.
I am a mariner, not a soldier. I felt no sense of duty to fight a war. I had fullfiled my mission, therefore I considered myself free to make my own choices. Many of the smaller vessels were damaged and unable to take the sea again - and so the little fishing village in the bay became my home for a few years.
News of the war came back to me along the supply route. The Host marched across Beleriand, and met the forces of Morgoth in the plains of a place called Anfauglith. Here a great battle was fought. The fighting was so intense that the shape of the land of Beleriand would forever change. The number of casualties was staggering.
The war lasted several years - on the coast we kept the supply lines open, making sure the army was fed and watered, armed and warm. In the end, the forces of Morgoth were almost defeated, but he was not. Morgoth issued a call for the winged dragons and the great beasts came forth.
Taken by surprise, the Elves were driven back by the might of the dragons - The leader of these dragons was one known as Ancalagon the Black, the largest and most powerful dragon in the history of Arda - the damage his dragon horde inflicted on the Elves was immense.
Suddenly the outcome of the war was open again until something happened that would change history forever. Eärendil came with his sky-ship Vingilótë, along with great flocks of birds and the Great Eagles, and they fought the dragons. In the end Eärendil slew Ancalagon, the mightiest of the dragon.
Morgoth fled to the deepest dungeons but eventually he was caught. The two Silmarils still in his possession were taken by the Maia Eönwë, and Morgoth himself was sent through the Door of Night, into the Timeless Void. When this news reached the coast great joy came upon the people and feasts were held in honor of the Elves and the Valar. And so the great wrath of war came to pass and peace and plenty were once more.
