eI ran...I ran...I needed to leave Prithbo alone, to prevent that attack to Combe...There were some wargs which needed to be defeated. that great warg Baucharg and his pups: Lamepaw, Game bird and Morgulf...I kept my hands on the handle of my sword...to jerk it out of my scabbard as quick as possible if needed! I feel my belt, a nice one with images of horses...with green and white. I got it from my father, and after his betrayal, i still couldn't throw it away. But that's not a concern for now...now it is time...For warg hunt.
it was not long after that moment that I caught him...the track showed a lame warg. The blonde one. It would be dangerous, but will be weakened by his paw. I made a small tour around him and hid myself in one of the bushes. I touched one of my javelins...he approached...some steps...ready...and there the javelin was suddenly gone! I jumped out of the bushes and sprinted to the cruel creature.
The fight did not took very long and I was glad for that. how would I defeat the other beasts if i should have difficulties with this one?! the javelin came deep in his pelt and he was startled very much. I made a large swing with my sword and hacked in him. he tried to bite to me, but he failed due his handicap and due my violence. somewhat later, he succumbed finally by his wounds.
I think it was evening now. It would not be wise to track wargs in the darkness, so I returned to Prithbo. He still lost consciousness. (pity) So I slept a little while . In the first hours of the morning, I had to leave the hobbit behind again. I caught the track of a second warg, late in the afternoon...I wondered if they made for the village already, but it seemed not to be. Perhaps they didn't because they found not their brother...It appeared that this warg sat currently by the watches of the blackwold entrance. How would I do that, without drawing the attention of the brigands?
I solved that very easy. I looked in one of my pockets and found a nice ball. Now I wanted to see if the tales were true. From behind the bushes, I threw that ball very far away in the direction of the guards. Those guards didn't take too much notice of it, but the grey warg, called Game Bird seemed to consider it as a game. He ran to the ball and took it to me in the bushes, from were he had noticed the ball came from. The guards could not see me here, and they didn't wonder were the could come from. perhaps they just didn't notice.
The warg looked to my with happy eyes and the ball between his teeth. Those teeth were more sharp as predicted, and i did not found that nice. I took the ball from him and threw it away again. now in the other direction, since I wanted to lead him away from the brigand camp. here it would make too much noise.
when being satisfied about the distance, I played somewhat with him. In fact, that was much more nice as foreseen, but I still had a quest to be done. We rolled in the leaves and jumped into the air. at a certain moment he lied on his back. he looked funny to me with the ball in his mouth, but I took my chance: I jerked the sword out of my scabbard again and hit him, right at the place of the heart. After that, I pulled my sword out of the beast, and with that his life. That was the end of the second warg which could be a threat for Combe. I returned to Prithbo again. I did not want to stay away from him for too long with that wargs in the surroundings. that would be fatal...
I really began to worry about him, since he has not awoken yet. So I passed the second night with the succumbed hobbit. And lucky I was there...
The next morning, I did not need to look for tracks, since I killed two brothers. The third tracked me, and I was the prey. Not very good...It happened short after awaking....I took a short breakfast when I heard some growls. I looked to one of the bushes, it came from there. It was watching me. he tried to hide himself, but the fierce red eyes of Morgulf couldn't be hidden. He inspected me, and I touched one of my small axes. Then he jumped out of the bushes, and I could only avoid a hard bite by the throwing axe which came right in his face...
No doubt that he had pain, but he seemed to neglect it. he growled somewhat more and attacked me again. he made a second jump and I could dive just in time to the ground to avoid a next blow. Immediately, I took my sword and stung the warg, but he heavily shaked and I lost my sword. Now I was armless. I knocked him on his nose with my fist and he moved short back. I took a javelin from my back and threw it to him, but his fur warded off my weapon. He looked to be annoyed that I could not be taken down so easily. Also I was annoyed that he could not be taken down. The warg turned his face now, and his eyes full of death looked to Prithbo...
He looked to me again and likely smiled to me. he slowly walked to the hobbit who was still succumbed. I did not know what he was going to do, but at the moment that he was ready to kill the hobbit, I realized that I had no javelins anymore...no...Noo!
The red company means hope, and if he could kill Prithbo, then all hope may fade. it was at that moment that I loudly roared and that I dived on his back, so fast that he nearly didn't realize what was changed. I jerked now the last weapon which was left and I stung him now several times with my knife. My own small knife, which I normally use to cut ropes and weeds. He clearly noticed that and growled it out of pain. He threw me from his back and jumped me again. I fell heavily on my back in the soil.
This was the moment, just like in my dream...when death looks to me and I looks to death. He showed his teeth now, but I was not slain. Though I accepted the end now. I heavily hit in his mouth with my knife. one of his teeth flow away. now he moved back again and yelped. Now I got a great idea with one of the last items i had in my pocked. When he approached again, I lighted a mash and I could just in time throw it to the vile beast. His fur flamed and he howled it out of pain. I followed him for some time, and after a quarter of an hour he succumbed. Then I returned to the hobbit, and he opened his eyes. he said nothing, but he smiled.
I tracked now the last warg: Baucharg. But I tracked him for days now and have given it up. he was too clever and Prithbo was still weak. My quest succeeded, since most wargs are death. So I returned to Combe with the hobbit, who was already wounded for somewhat four days. There we recovered...
