Brablo's Diary - Entry 1

Mr. Brablo Boffin of Barleywick,

Mr. Boffin of Barleywick

Brablo Boffin of Barleywick

Brablo Boffin

I happened across this old book when dusting one of my shelves in the living room. How can something so small gather so much dust! The leather binding is in good condition, however, and the parchment is crisp - yet not brittle. I remember now that my dear sister Esmeralda gifted it to me many years ago on her birthday - as an appointment book. She knows as well as any that I am often forgetful when it comes to afternoon tea and meetings with the flower committee. It seems, however, that I need a diary to remind me of my diary.

I have not kept a diary in this fashion before. Marriage, fatherhood, and now grandfatherhood, never allowed me much time to engage in such private writings. My late mother kept a diary, though it is a rather despondent account of one who missed their home, far away. My late father's appointment book is so complicated that even now I cannot make sense of it.
