Record of Uzraku Asjâr Hilfar - entry 1

The mines
Finally some time left to write up an entry in this record. Many things had happened the last few weeks for the good or bad. And many events are likely awaiting us in the weeks to come. First of all, the mines are operational and new lodes have been found! Master Tholdurin and my father have delved themselves a great yield of silver and iron and even some gold. This is more than I could have hoped for in the first month after our arrival. They are to be commended for their hard work.

Dourhands
This achievement will not go unnoticed, the Dourhands have been preying on these mines for decades and scouts have been sighted around the perimeter. They even tried to infiltrate our base yesterday, but due to the good work of Jarl and master Thalamath and their men, Othrikar stands firm against their ill plans. Yet there is something bigger at work here, some plan that is yet to reveal itself. Its a feeling of a certain dread, we as new players taking part in an old game, and we have yet to discover all the hidden rules. The treachery of the Dourhands reaches far, even into the DFTC itself if the hunge of Master Ásfinnur is correct. A worrying thought, if our moves be known to them puts us into a major fragile position. Is this linked to the disappearance of Lord Duinn? The Dourhands stir, and are yet to reveal their real plans. We have not yet invested in counter measures or counter intelligence, all I can do know is lock up the settlement to protect the mines and ore yields. I hope our new found Scout Skaril has some good news for us on his return.

Morale
The pressure of the Dourhands in combination with the dissapearance of Duinn and the winter chill that blows through the outpost, yes I fear for the morale of the dwarrows here and especially of one particular woman. I am aware that not all will stay here long enough to see the next spring. I feel for her, young and eager and having such strong desire to prove her worth. Yet now I forced her to sit still in a settlement she is not fond of, no I dont think she likes it here. If the Dourhands snatch her, they will use her as leverage to claim our mines, a very likely thought.

Priority
- We need to get the shipment ready next week, but before we do, we need to secure the road between Bree and Othrikar. No doubt the Dourhands will prey on our first shipment, we need to come up with a proper plan.
- After that is done we need to gain control over grounds again and push back the Dourhand presence from our fields. Reclaim our hunting grounds and secure the road.
- That beacon next to Othrikar must serve a purpose, I think we should seek allies with the men that dwell in the ruins to the south. We may have need of them, should the shadow come over our mining outpost.
