Dear Mother and Father,
I am on my way back from Eregion with a nice cache of Ancient Silver again. Stopped for the day at Combe because it was Market day. Who should I run into but Tondher who was judging the potential of selling weapons. I asked if I could stay the night at his house but instead he led me to a house outside the village where there were dogs! I nearly started to cry I was so afraid. I ran nearly all the way back to Combe. How mean of him was that? Rua always said you could never trust a longshanks. I guess he was right. Sebbi is alright though. And Tond did say later it was just a jest. He thought I was feeling down so that was his way of cheering me up. He gave me a Bluebottle even. I don't think I'll ever understand Bigfolk.
There was a flower seller at the market and I bought a pretty bouquet to brighten up the inn room I was staying at. The Combe and Wattle has a good reputation but I would rather have stayed at a friend's. Anyway, the market was a lot of fun, there was a band playing. I don't remember the name of the band, but I met and spoke with some of the members. I remembered Rowana from the Grand Order of the Lost Mathom's anniversary party. And she remembered me! Simbo was there as well and he gave me another flower... along with the rest of the female population! He's nice enough I guess, but a true hobbit lad. Steer clear Zara!
There were four members in the band. One of them seemed a little odd, but perhaps that's because I don't know her. She seemed to drink quite a bit, danced on the table and kept kicking over ale mugs. I didn't get to talk to her as she was deep in conversation with a chicken of all things! You'll think I'm the one who's been drinking in a minute! Apart from that she seemed nice enough. I also met Lina, another member of the band who was playing an old lute. We talked quite a bit and she told me the lute had belonged to her father. How lovely is that? A family heirloom. I was quite jealous. How wonderful to have a family and things with memories and traditions tied to them! Perhaps one day I'll be able to pass things on to my children. It was getting late by then so the band left. I said my goodnights and went up to my room.
Your loving Zara
